Position Purpose:

QnityElectronicsis hiring an Automation & Process Control Engineerat theChambers Works plant site.The plant produces high performanceperfluoroelastomerin support of theKalrez business.The successful candidate will support both the Chambers Works site in Deepwater, NJ and the Tralee Park site in Newark, DE.The primary location will be attheChambers Works site.

The role willbe the key resource formaintainingthe distributed control system, programmable logic controllers,instrumentationand analyzers.

Functional Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performing engineering assignments (production, maintenance, process, capital projects, etc.) involving the application of established instrumentation and process control technology and principles and often requiring coordination with other engineering and functional competencies to provide economical and expedient task implementation.

  • Providing day-to-day troubleshootingassistancefor instrumentation and controls in a chemical manufacturing environment.

  • Leading the instrumentation and process controls functional responsibilities (i.e.design, configuration,commissioningand startups) associated with capital and improvement projects.

  • Managing administrative and documentation requirements for tasks such as software revisions, downloading configuration changes, graphics development and modification, and implementing software changes of design.

  • Perform tuning of process controllers and audit performance ofloop'sas needed.

  • Leading orassistingtroubleshooting efforts associated with the control systems to avoid or minimize production upsets and/or downtime.

  • Supporting Operations by assisting in training operators on how the control systemsfunctionsand in diagnosing operating problems.

  • Create and/ormodifyinterlock test procedures andprovide assistancein updating those procedures as required by design

  • Interfacing directly withvendor representatives for firmware/hardware upgrades.

  • Participating as needed in functional check-outs of new equipment. Ensuring repair of the Control System peripherals, and associated equipmentin order tosupport production demand.

  • Configuring DCS and PLCs to perform manufacturing tasks safely.

  • Communicating with others to ensure successful checkout, start-up, and commissioning of projects involving DCS & PLCs.

  • Schedulingowndaily activities to satisfy production requirements and accommodating requests from other organizations (Maintenance, Operations, Projects, etc.).

  • Maintain the plant data historian

Know-how/Experience:

  • Experience championing and implement improvements in systems capabilities in a manufacturing plant environment (Chemical Plant and/or Six Sigma Preferred).
  • Demonstratedexpertiseand understanding of distributed control system (DCS) architecture anddemonstratedskills in configuring,documentingand troubleshooting DCS and PLC systems.
  • Demonstratedknowledge of instrumentation systems and electrical infrastructure.
  • Experience with process control and instrumentation tuning
  • Demonstratedsuccess in managing and leading both strategic long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issues.
  • Fundamental understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and High Hazard Processes is a plus.
  • Experience with ABB distributed control systems.

EDUCATION:

  • Preferred: B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of industrial process experience. Candidates with degrees in Process, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering will also be considered.
