Posting Summary
The Rutgers School of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Temporary Research Assistant for the Shiau Research to support ongoing research projects addressing comorbidities associated with infections, including HIV, across the lifespan. The Temporary Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Stephanie Shiau in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at School of Public Health (SPH).
This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic research program spanning epidemiology, aging, molecular epidemiology, and health services research. The successful candidate will lead and support data management and statistical analyses, contribute to the development and publication of scientific manuscripts, and mentor students working on related projects. The position is well suited for an individual seeking to further develop expertise in epidemiologic methods, scientific writing, grantsmanship, and collaborative multidisciplinary research.
Duties include:
  • Conduct data management, cleaning, quality assurance, and preparation of research datasets.
  • Perform statistical analyses using SAS, R, and other relevant analytical tools to address study objectives.
  • Lead and contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, including drafting, revising, and
  • submitting papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or equivalent) in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a related quantitative field.
  • Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
  • Advanced expertise in statistical programming, including SAS and R
  • Experience with literature management software (e.g., Zotero), survey and data collection platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap), and human subjects research is desirable.
  • Candidates should demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research, manage multiple projects simultaneously, contribute to scientific manuscripts and grant applications, and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with epigenetic data, molecular epidemiology, large administrative databases, and/or health care claims data.
