Job description

JOB OVERVIEW *****RESTRICTED POSTING: THIS POSTING REQUIRES you to be a current eligible employee of Sarpy County. If you are not a current Sarpy County employee, please do not apply at this time**** GENERAL PURPOSE Performs technical and administrative accounting functions relative to the County's account payables/claims, bank reconciliation, tax levies, clerk banking records and fixed assets management. With regular attendance, is responsible for administering, coordinating, and implementing the accounting process and procedures for the County's accounts payables, payroll, and account reconciliation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL DUTIES Process and verify timecards and payroll data, ensuring compliance with county policies, manager approvals, and accuracy of hours reported. Respond to inquiries from County personnel and external vendors, providing assistance with Munis, claims, and general journal adjustments. Perform a variety of advanced benefit payroll accounting functions (Pension, 457, 401(a), Health/Dental, COBRA/Retiree, etc.)

Maintain accounts by recording, identifying, and verifying financial transactions following internal accounting procedures and policies to ensure financial security. Process printed checks, and electronic fund transfers, including creating cash disbursement journals and coordinating funds transfers with the County Treasurer. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or G.E.D. 3 years of general accounting or payroll experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse individuals

Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, data management, communication, and other software. Ability to follow established policies and procedures for confidentiality while adapting to evolving privacy standards and technologies.

Knowledge of account reconciliation, financial reporting, and cash handling procedures. Ability to operate financial and payroll software. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships within a team PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS The work environment is typically a professional office setting, involving regular use of computers, standard office equipment, and frequent interaction with both internal staff and the public in a structured, task-oriented atmosphere.
