Job description

SAR Academy, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational day school in Riverdale, NY, is seeking a talented, creative and highly organized Communications Manager to join the institution's communications team. The Communications Manager will play a key role in advancing the communications strategy and telling the story of our school community through compelling content, digital engagement, and strategic communications.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer, creative storyteller, and collaborative team player who can manage multiple projects with great attention to detail while bringing fresh ideas and a thoughtful approach to every communication.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Execute SAR's comprehensive communications and marketing strategy across internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and produce engaging written content, including school communications, newsletters, website updates, announcements, and marketing materials.
  • Create and curate content for digital platforms, including social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn), email communications, and other online resources.
  • Capture and coordinate photo and multimedia content that highlights student learning, school programs, and community life.
  • Support the development and implementation of communications plans for major school events, initiatives, and special projects.
  • Assist with event communications and logistics, including advertisements and application processes.
  • Manage job postings and recruitment communications, including advertisements and application processes.
  • Assist with administrative duties including expense reports, order forms, to support communications projects.

  • Contribute ideas and support new creative initiatives that strengthen the institution.

Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience developing content for traditional and digital media, including social media.

  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas and translate them into effective communications.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Comfort and fluency with technology, digital tools, and content management platforms.

  • Experience with photography, social media content creation, or multimedia production preferred.

  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization, educational institution, or mission-driven environment preferred.

  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach with the ability to work independently.

  • Positive, energetic team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

$70,000 - $90,000 a year
