Position Overview:
We are seeking a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Developer to support NASA's digital transformation initiatives as part of our Intelligent Automation Services (IAS) team. This role is integral to advancing NASA's strategic objective to optimize mission and business operations through intelligent process automation.
The ideal candidate is technically proficient, forward-thinking, and highly collaborative-capable of delivering automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual workloads, and support continued leadership in space exploration, research, and innovation. Candidates should have a strong foundation in software development, practical experience with RPA platforms (UiPath, Microsoft Power Automate), and a familiarity with federal security, compliance, and development practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, test, and maintain automation solutions that streamline business and mission support processes.
  • Develop bots using UiPath and Microsoft Power Automate (Power Platform), ensuring compliance with IT governance and security protocols.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, Business Analysts, and Process Owners to assess feasibility and define automation requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including Solution Description Documents (SDDs), deployment guides, and support materials aligned with system development documentation standards.
  • Ensure quality and stability of deployed bots by supporting troubleshooting, updates, and ongoing performance improvements.
  • Adhere to established configuration management, version control, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Participate in peer code reviews, technical design reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement within the RPA development lifecycle.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and mission IT groups to ensure compliant and resilient automation deployments.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Federal Public Trust clearance (mandatory) .
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in object-oriented software development (e.g., C#, Java, Python).
  • Demonstrated experience developing RPA bots using UiPath and/or Microsoft Power Automate within the Power Platform.
  • Hands-on experience supporting automation initiatives in environments aligned with large-scale, mission-critical federal programs.
  • Strong understanding of version control (e.g., Git) and structured SDLC processes.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven, and highly secure environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when interfacing with federal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • UiPath Advanced Developer Certification and/or Microsoft Power Platform certifications (PL-900, PL-100, PL-500).
  • Experience automating federal business processes, such as financial reconciliation, procurement, HR onboarding, or grants management.
  • Familiarity with IT standards, NIST cybersecurity controls (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP), and cloud environments (Azure Government or AWS GovCloud).
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma or ITIL.
  • Prior experience supporting automation projects within federal science/technology agencies.

Salary Description
$35,000 - $45,000 Depending on Experience
