Sr. SAP HCM Migration Consultant (Hands-On L3 Configuration)

ADP

Alpharetta, GA

$59.25 - $80.25/hr

Full-time

Re-posted 28 days ago

Job description

ADP ESI Migration Factory is hiring a Senior SAP Migration Consultant.

ADP is seeking a hands-on SAP HCM Consultant to support the GlobalView to RISE / S/4HANA migration program, one of the largest SAP Payroll transformations globally.

This role operates in a true Tier 3 / L3 capacity, requiring deep expertise in SAP HCM configuration, payroll, and production issue resolution.

This is not a coordination or ticket-routing role. You will be expected to:

  • Diagnose issues independently
  • Implement configuration fixes
  • Understand system behavior at a technical-functional level

If you cannot differentiate between configuration issues and ABAP defects, or lack hands-on SPRO experience, this role is not a fit.

What You'll Do

L3 Production Support (Core Focus)

  • Troubleshoot complex SAP HCM issues without escalation
  • Perform root cause analysis across:

o Payroll (when applicable)

o Personnel Admin

o Organizational Management

  • Analyze logs, tables, and system behavior to identify true system defects vs config gaps

Hands-On Configuration

  • Execute configuration in SPRO
  • Maintain and adjust:

o Infotypes

o Enterprise structure

o Payroll elements (if applicable)

  • Validate fixes through end-to-end system testing

Migration Execution (Factory Model)

  • Execute structured, repeatable migration tasks with precision
  • Perform:

o Data validation

o System checks

o Pre/post migration activities

  • Identify inconsistencies across environments and resolve them

ABAP Debugging & Technical Awareness (Required)

  • Ability to read and debug ABAP code to support issue analysis
  • Use debugging tools to:

o Trace payroll and HCM processing logic

o Identify whether issues are configuration or code-related

  • Partner with ABAP teams but do not rely on them for initial diagnosis

This is not a developer role, but candidates MUST be able to debug and analyze code.

Technical Analysis

  • Read/debug enough ABAP to:

o Identify whether issue is config vs code

  • Analyze:

o SAP Notes

o Support packs

o Enhancements

Collaboration

  • Work closely with:

o Functional teams

o Technical/ABAP teams

o Migration factory team

  • Communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

  • 5+ years hands-on SAP HCM configuration
  • Proven experience in L3/Tier 3 support
  • Strong ability to:

o Perform root cause analysis independently

o Work in SPRO/customizing

  • Experience with:

o Payroll or adjacent HCM modules

  • Ability to:

o Differentiate config vs code issues

  • Ability to read and debug ABAP code to support issue analysis

Disqualifiers

  • L1/L2 support only (ticket triage, no configuration)
  • Cannot explain how issues are debugged step-by-step
  • No SPRO/config experience
  • Cannot distinguish ABAP vs functional issues
  • Resume-driven knowledge without real examples
  • No experience with ABAP debugging or code analysis
  • Cannot explain how to determine config vs ABAP issue
  • Over-reliance on technical teams

What We Will Test

  • SAP debugging approach
  • Configuration depth (SPRO)
  • Migration logic and validation thinking
  • Ownership of issue resolution

Our Interview Process

  • 1 Virtual Hiring Manager Interview 45 minutes duration
  • 1 Technical Interview w/Panel 60 minutes duration
