They work closely with finance teams to streamline activities such as general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, asset accounting, and financial reporting. Their role often includes analyzing business requirements, configuring SAP systems to meet those needs, troubleshooting issues, and providing user training. SAP Finance Analysts help organizations ensure accurate financial data, compliance, and efficient financial operations within the SAP ecosystem.

How does an SAP Finance Analyst typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

SAP Finance Analysts play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the finance team and IT, as well as other business units such as operations, procurement, and sales. They often gather requirements from stakeholders, translate business needs into technical specifications, and ensure that SAP solutions align with strategic objectives. Regular collaboration involves participating in cross-functional meetings, troubleshooting issues, and providing user training or support. This collaborative environment helps ensure the integrity and efficiency of financial processes across the organization.

Job description

Our team is planning a greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation to support our organization. You will help design and deliver an ERP that connects finance, accounting, supply chain, procurement, and the shop floor into a single digital thread. We are committed to building the right way from the start: a clean-core approach, standard-first configuration, and an architecture meant to scale with the business.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end solution architecture for the SAP finance and controllership domains on S/4HANA, translating business-process requirements into a coherent, scalable design.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, and FP&A leaders to work backwards from financial-close, controls, and management-reporting requirements, and convert them into SAP configuration, the finance data model, and integration designs the delivery team can build.
- Own the integration architecture connecting SAP FICO to its upstream and downstream systems (billing, procurement, product costing, the manufacturing stack, and the reporting and data-lake layer), establishing a single source of truth for financial data.
- Lead SAP standard-versus-custom decisions, favoring configuration and clean-core extensions on BTP over core modifications, and evaluate system-integrator proposals with deep technical judgment on controls, auditability, upgrade-safety, and long-term maintainability.
- Build financial controls, segregation of duties, and audit and compliance requirements into the SAP design from the start rather than retrofitting them.
- Serve as the senior technical authority for SAP finance through design and configuration reviews, prototypes, and hands-on resolution of the hardest FICO configuration and integration problems, mentoring functional analysts and junior architects.
