Job description

Overview
DecisionPoint seeks a Release Manager to oversee release coordination, code promotion, and deployment readiness across a multi-environment enterprise application ecosystem supporting federal and DoD-aligned mission needs. This role manages release planning, environment synchronization, version control, build documentation, and cross-team coordination to ensure stable and predictable delivery of CMS and enterprise platform updates.
The Release Manager plays a key role in ensuring that development, test, staging, and production environments remain aligned and that releases follow controlled, documented, and repeatable processes in accordance with ITIL standards and mission operational requirements.
This position is fully remote.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Release Manager will:
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage release schedules across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Ensure code promotion follows controlled workflows, validation steps, and documented approvals.
  • Maintain version control practices, environment tagging, and build traceability across all releases.
  • Oversee build documentation, deployment notes, feature listings, and risk registers for each release cycle.
  • Coordinate with development, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and testing teams to validate readiness for deployment.
  • Facilitate release readiness reviews, go/no-go decisions, and cross-team communication.
  • Ensure all release actions comply with ITIL practices including change, release, and configuration management.
  • Maintain CMDB-related records and configuration documentation to reflect accurate environment states.
  • Coordinate hotfixes, emergency releases, and rollback procedures when necessary.
  • Track defects, deployment issues, and post-release performance, ensuring lessons learned are captured.
  • Support automation improvements for deployment pipelines and environment configuration.
  • Maintain release calendars, reporting dashboards, and documentation for government stakeholders.

Qualifications
Clearance Requirement
  • Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation.

Education (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, IT Management, or a related field.

Experience (Required)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in release management, configuration management, DevSecOps support, or enterprise IT operations.
  • Experience coordinating releases across multiple environments (DEV, TEST, STAGE, PROD).
  • Experience with ITIL-based processes including release, change, and configuration management.
  • Experience maintaining version control systems and supporting deployment workflows.
  • Experience collaborating with development, QA, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams.

Technical Knowledge (Required)
  • Strong knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and branching strategies.
  • Understanding of build processes, deployment pipelines, and environment validation.
  • Familiarity with ITIL v4 processes and release management best practices.
  • Knowledge of configuration documentation, CMDB record maintenance, and asset tracking.
  • Technical Knowledge (Preferred)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based hosting environments or container orchestration.
  • Understanding of CMS deployment considerations, template updates, or integration releases.
