SAP Archiving & ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) Consultant
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP Archiving & Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) Consultant to lead the design, implementation, and support of SAP data archiving, retention management, and data destruction solutions across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, IS-U, FICA, CRM/C4C, and integrated enterprise content management platforms such as OpenText. The consultant will work closely with business, compliance, legal, security, and SAP technical teams to implement enterprise data retention policies and regulatory compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
SAP ILM & Archiving Implementation
•       Design and implement SAP ILM and Archiving solutions for SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments.
•       Configure SAP ILM Retention Management, Retention Warehouse, and Data Destruction processes.
•       Implement and maintain Archive Objects, Retention Rules, and Destruction Policies.
•       Execute end-to-end data archiving, retrieval, conversion, and destruction activities.
•       Configure ILM Store and integrate with certified storage platforms.
Compliance & Governance
•       Translate corporate data retention and regulatory requirements into SAP ILM policies.
•       Ensure compliance with legal, audit, privacy, and records management requirements.
•       Support GDPR, CCPA, and enterprise information governance initiatives.
•       Conduct data lifecycle assessments and archival readiness reviews.
Technical Development
•       Develop and enhance ABAP programs, BADIs, User Exits, and custom reports supporting archiving processes.
•       Automate archive file validation, monitoring, and reporting.
•       Troubleshoot archiving jobs, retention policy issues, and ILM configuration challenges.
•       Coordinate with SAP Basis teams for archive storage configuration and transport management.
Integration & OpenText Collaboration
•       Integrate SAP ILM solutions with OpenText Content Server/xECM and external repositories.
•       Support retention-based deletion of business documents and attachments.
•       Develop and validate interfaces supporting archive and destruction processes.
•       Coordinate end-to-end record cleanup and document lifecycle management initiatives.
Testing & Deployment
•       Prepare functional and technical design documents.
•       Conduct unit testing, integration testing, UAT, and production deployment activities.
•       Develop test scripts and validation procedures for archiving and destruction scenarios.
•       Support go-live, hypercare, and knowledge transfer activities.
Required Qualifications
Education
•       Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Experience
•       7+ years of SAP experience.
•       3+ years of hands-on SAP ILM and Data Archiving implementation experience.
•       Experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.
•       Experience implementing retention and destruction policies.
