Come innovate with us!
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated Senior Electrical Facilities Technician to oversee the reliability, maintenance, and optimization of our critical electrical infrastructure.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role. Whether you are a formally trained engineer or a veteran industrial technician, you must possess a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical "wrench-turning" experience. You will be the primary technical authority for our power distribution systems and rotating equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and strict safety compliance in a mission-critical industrial environment.
Role and Responsibilities
Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:
1. Infrastructure Management & Engineering Support
  • Provide expert technical oversight for the full lifecycle of facility electrical infrastructure, including Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution, substations, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, and emergency backup power systems.
  • Manage the operation and reliability of critical rotating equipment, including industrial motors, pumps, compressors, and generators.
  • Maintain and update critical technical documentation, including one-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
2. Troubleshooting & Reliability Engineering
  • Act as the Lead Technical Responder for complex electrical failures, power quality issues, and process interruptions to minimize downtime.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for equipment failures and implement permanent corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop and execute predictive maintenance strategies (e.g., thermography, vibration analysis) to move the site from reactive to proactive asset management.
3. Execution & Coordination
  • Lead the planning, testing, and commissioning of electrical upgrades and new equipment installations.
  • Coordinate between operations teams, maintenance crews, and external contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee contractor performance during shutdowns or facility expansions.
4. Safety & Compliance
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert (SME) for electrical safety, ensuring 100% compliance with NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA standards.
  • Oversee and enforce Arc Flash requirements and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols to ensure a zero-incident workplace.

Skills and Qualifications
Here's What You'll Need:
  • High School Diploma/GED with extensive specialized technical certifications (e.g., Journeyman/Master Electrician license).
  • 10+ years of proven, high-level hands-on experience in industrial electrical facilities maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform engineering-level analysis (RCA, power quality) and manage complex infrastructure projects.
  • Power Distribution: Deep working knowledge of MV switchgear, relays, breakers, power system coordination, emergency power, generators, and transfer switches.
  • Rotating Equipment: Hands-on experience with 3-phase motors, generators, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), MCCs.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven track record in reliability engineering and failure investigation.
  • Codes: Mastery of NEC and NFPA electrical codes.

Total Rewards
At Samsung Austin Semiconductor, base pay is just one part of our total compensation package. The base compensation for this role will depend on education, experience, skills, and location.
