Position Summary

The Facilities Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facility electrical systems and rotating equipment. This role provides technical expertise in medium-voltage power distribution, electrical reliability, equipment troubleshooting, and system performance improvement. The engineer partners with operations, maintenance, and project teams to resolve complex electrical issues, implement reliability strategies, support capital projects, and ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards. The ideal candidate has strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, hands-on industrial electrical experience, and a proactive approach to improving equipment reliability and facility uptime.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • ProvideengineeringsupportforfacilityelectricalinfrastructureincludingMV/LVdistributionsystems,substations,switchgear,transformers,UPSsystems,andemergencypowersystems.

  • Supporttheoperation,maintenance,andreliabilityimprovementofrotatingequipmentsuchasmotors,pumps,compressors,andgenerators.

  • Leadtroubleshootingeffortsforelectricalequipmentfailures,powerqualityissues,andprocessinterruptionstominimizedowntimeandimprovesystemperformance.

  • Performreliabilityassessments,rootcauseanalyses(RCAs),anddevelopcorrective/preventiveactionstoimproveassetreliabilityandoperationalefficiency.

  • Coordinateelectricalmaintenanceactivities,equipmentupgrades,testing,andcommissioningwithoperations,maintenance,andcontractorteams.

  • Ensurecompliancewithapplicableelectricalcodes,safetystandards,andcompanyproceduresincludingNFPA,NEC,OSHA,andarcflashrequirements.

  • Developandmaintainelectricaldocumentationincludingone-linediagrams,maintenanceprocedures,equipmentspecifications,andtechnicalreports.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

  • Bachelor'sdegreeinElectricalEngineeringfromanaccrediteduniversity.

  • 5+yearsofexperiencesupportingindustrialorfacilitieselectricalsystemsinmanufacturing,chemical,semiconductor,datacenter,oil&gas,orsimilarenvironments.

  • Workingknowledgeofrotatingequipmentincludingmotors,generators,variablefrequencydrives(VFDs),andassociatedprotection/controlsystems.

  • Experiencewithmedium-voltage(MV)powerdistributionsystemsincludingswitchgear,transformers,relays,breakers,andpowersystemcoordination.

  • Provenreliabilityengineeringandtroubleshootingexperienceinvolvingrootcauseanalysis,failureinvestigations,predictivemaintenance,andsystemoptimization.

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.

At Samsung Austin Semiconductor, base pay is just one part of our total compensation package. The base compensation for this role will depend on education, experience, skills, and location.
