Sampling Manager information

What is a sampling manager?

Sampling Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the process of collecting, managing, and evaluating samples in industries such as market research, manufacturing, or environmental science. Their role includes designing sampling strategies, ensuring sample quality and representativeness, and coordinating with teams to meet project goals. They often analyze data from samples and make recommendations based on their findings. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are essential for this position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sampling manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sampling Manager, you need expertise in project management, data analysis, and a strong understanding of sampling methodologies, often backed by a degree in statistics, market research, or a related field. Familiarity with data collection software, survey platforms, and statistical analysis tools like SPSS or SAS is typically required. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for coordinating teams and assuring sample quality. These abilities ensure accurate data collection, efficient project delivery, and actionable insights for clients or stakeholders.

What are some common challenges faced by sampling managers, and how can they be addressed?

Sampling Managers often face challenges such as tight project timelines, ensuring sample quality control, and coordinating between multiple departments like production, design, and quality assurance. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential to manage these complexities. Proactively setting clear expectations, maintaining detailed tracking systems, and fostering collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams can help mitigate these challenges and ensure timely, high-quality sample delivery.

Job description

GeoSystems Analysis, Inc., a Trinity Consultants team, is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Hydrogeologist to join our growing team in the southwest. The Environmental Scientist/Hydrogeologist supports groundwater, surface water, soil, and ecological science projects for GeoSystems Analysis, Inc. This position provides hands-on experience conducting field investigations, surface water, groundwater and vadose zone studies, numerical modeling, and technical analysis. This role works closely with small technical teams to design and implement studies related primarily to surface and groundwater resources, habitat restoration, and mine reclamation. While ideally based in Tucson, AZ, candidates that are local to our other Trinity offices in the West are encouraged to apply.

What will I be doing?

  • Apply knowledge of hydrologic processes to describe water movement across the land surface, vadose zone, and groundwater.
  • Perform numerical modeling for surface water, groundwater and unsaturated flow.
  • Conduct fieldwork including soil and drillhole sampling, geologic logging, well completion, and installation/monitoring of groundwater and vadose zone instruments.
  • Collect and analyze surface water and groundwater samples.
  • Manage field investigations and monitoring, including soil and water sampling, geologic logging, and installation of monitoring instruments.
  • Interpret data to assess and predict land use impacts on soil and groundwater quality and resource availability.
  • Collaborate with hydrogeologists, hydrologists, ecologists, engineers, and other environmental professionals.
  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports for clients.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines during all activities.

What qualifications are required for this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in a natural resources sciences field related to water resources required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in a similar role and in a consulting environment.
  • Preferred experience in GIS analysis, programming (Python), numerical modeling, field data collection, and data analysis/report writing.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites in the Western U.S. and/or internationally.

The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $85,000 per year. In addition, Geosystems Analysis has a discretionary bonus program that considers business profitability and individual performance.

What does GSA offer you?

  • Comprehensive benefits package: 9 paid holidays, healthcare benefits, PTO, and 401k matching for full-time employees.
  • Multidisciplinary environment: Unique, creative, and challenging projects where you can develop your vision of clientele and work with industry leaders daily.
  • Success-oriented environment: Two-way mentorship, tuition reimbursement, and a career path structure to help you reach the next steps in your career.
