Laboratory Sample Coordinator

Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is hiring for a leading laboratory and life sciences organization in Richmond, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory, sample management, or regulated environment experience who is looking to build their career within a professional laboratory setting.

Location: Richmond, VA
Pay Rate: $20.13/hour
Employment Type: 1-Year Contract with Temp-to-Hire Potential
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Full-Time
Duration: 12 months, with potential for permanent hire based on business needs and performance

Position Overview

The Laboratory Sample Coordinator will support day-to-day laboratory operations by managing the receipt, tracking, labeling, storage, movement, and disposition of laboratory samples and standards. This position works closely with laboratory staff to ensure materials are handled accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with laboratory documentation, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, check in, log, label, launch, inventory, transport, and check out laboratory samples and standards.

  • Maintain accurate sample and standard records to ensure proper tracking and traceability.

  • Communicate sample and standard status to laboratory personnel and respond to requests in a timely manner.

  • Support laboratory staff in following established sample-handling and storage procedures.

  • Assist with the physical return, transfer, and disposal of laboratory materials as required.

  • Review laboratory requests and provide guidance to ensure compliance with applicable SOPs and procedures.

  • Complete investigation and deviation documentation as needed and support appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

  • Follow established SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and laboratory storage requirements.

  • Respond appropriately to environmental unit alarms and participate in applicable on-call responsibilities.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and safe work practices throughout daily laboratory operations.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and communicate potential issues to appropriate laboratory personnel.

  • Work collaboratively with laboratory teams to ensure samples and standards are available when needed.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical, vocational, or college-level education is a plus.

  • Previous laboratory, sample management, inventory, manufacturing, or regulated-environment experience preferred.

  • Ability to accurately follow SOPs and established laboratory procedures.

  • Basic understanding of inventory control and material flow.

  • Familiarity with laboratory documentation, sample storage, and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Pay Details: $19.00 to $20.13 per hour
