About Dolls Kill

Named "The Fastest Growing Retailer in the US", Dolls Kill is a fashion brand that boldly empowers people to celebrate their individuality. Our customers would rather give an enthusiastic "f you" than conform to the contrived styles of today's fashion industry... and we help them do it. We have an amazing team of retail leaders, scrappy hackers, and fashion trendsetters who are fun to work with and serious about what they do. We're based in Oakland and backed by strong consumer-focused venture investors.

This role is based in our Oakland, CA office. It's an entry-level hourly position.

About the Role

The Styling & Sample Assistant supports the Associate Creative Director & Team on photoshoots, campaigns, and content across e-commerce, social, and brand marketing - while also owning day-to-day sample logistics. This is a hybrid role: half creative execution, half operational backbone. You'll prep looks one hour and reconcile a sample tracker the next. If you thrive on both on set and spreadsheets, this is your role.

Responsibilities

Styling & Shoot Support

    • Pull, steam, and prep garments for e-commerce, social, and campaign shoots based on style guides and creative direction
    • Assist on-set during shoots: dressing talent/models, managing change & fit adjustments
    • Style flat-lays and still life product photography when needed
    • Maintain wardrobe organization on set (labeling, steaming, garment care) to keep shoot days moving
Sample Coordination
    • Manage full sample lifecycle: intake, check-in/check-out, tracking, and return across design, buying, and marketing teams

    • Organize and maintain the physical sample library/closet by category, season, and size run

    • Flag missing, damaged, or overdue samples and follow up with Buying Team

    • Support end-of-season sample archiving, donation, or sell-off processes with Live Sales Team

Cross-Functional Support

    • Partner with merchandising and design teams to understand upcoming product drops and prioritize sample needs accordingly
    • Support styling needs for brand collaborations and licensing partner shoots
    • Assist with light administrative tasks
Requirements
    • 2 years of experience as an assistant stylist, styling intern, or sample coordinator (fashion retail, e-commerce, or brand marketing environment preferred)

    • Strong knowledge of alternative/streetwear/subculture fashion - you should already have thoughts and knowledge about the DK customer

    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; comfortable owning a tracking system with zero samples going missing on your watch

    • Able to lift/carry garment racks and boxes, and stand for extended periods during shoot days

    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities

    • Strong communication skills - you'll be chasing samples across multiple departments

    • Proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel for tracking; Adobe or Canva a plus for look boards

    • Flexible schedule availability for occasional early/late shoot days

Nice To Have
    • A personal styling portfolio or content you've contributed to
