Job Summary
Battelle's Norwell Analytical Chemistry Services (ACS) Laboratory is a nationally recognized environmental laboratory specializing in non-routine analyses for government and industry. We are seeking a Senior Sample Prep Technician (Senior Laboratory Technician) to join our Environment Division in delivering critical services for our environmental clients. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Norwell, Massachusetts.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate initiative, a strong work ethic, the ability to work in a collaborative environment, and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate smooth sample flow through the laboratory by scheduling and assigning work in the prep lab.
  • Track KPIs such as sample throughput and re-extract rates.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory requirements, including Demonstrations of Capability, calibration records, and maintenance of prep equipment.
  • Coordinate the ordering of consumables and reagents.
  • Initiate and perform sample processing following written SOPs and project QAPPs.
  • Conduct and document quality control and assurance procedures for monitoring and evaluating sample preparation quality.
  • Enter data and observations into LIMS.

Key Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Chemistry or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience with sample preparation of environmental samples following EPA methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Flexibility to work full-time or overtime as project needs require.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of any employment visa at this time.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and prepare data for supervisors or researchers as requested.
  • Experience establishing and tracking KPIs related to environmental chemistry work.

Salary Range and Compensation
  • Battelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The hourly range for this role is $20.10 - $27.60, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
