About The Role
The Supervisor, Sample Management is responsible for the overall management of the Sample Management team and biological samples collected during clinical trial execution. The Supervisor, Sample Management, will ensure tasks performed are conducted within compliance with study protocol, Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
What You'll Do Here
  • Management of the Sample Management team, including but not limited to, PTO management, timesheet approval, on-going and yearly performance reviews, employee hiring, disciplinary actions and termination.
  • Oversee, manage and/or coordinate the training and training records for the Sample Management team.
  • Proactively assess learning opportunities for the Sample Management team.
  • Assess day-to-day staffing needs and schedule accordingly.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of clinical trial participants and sponsors is respected.
  • Maintain and advocate a high level of customer service and quality within the department.
  • Oversee and/or perform activities, including but not limited to, sample handling/processing, sorting, inventory and shipping.
  • Create, review, and/or approve documentation regarding sample management activities in accordance with GCP, SOP, Final Protocol, and Final Lab Manual.
  • Resolve and respond to QA findings.
  • Ensure coordination with external vendors (i.e. shipment couriers, central lab).
  • May maintain and/or oversee the maintenance of equipment used in sample management (i.e. pipettes).
  • Provide a continuous line of communication with management teams on the status of biological samples.
  • Ensure study specific instructions are executed during sample management when required.
  • Assist in sponsor visits and regulatory audits and ensure a timely resolution to any related findings.
  • Ensure the resolution of data queries in a timely manner.
  • May participate in SOP and protocol reviews.
  • Proactively communicate issues and/or problem resolutions to departmental supervisors and managers.
  • Hold meetings with clinical members to communicate clinical trial needs and/or departmental objectives.

What You'll Need To Succeed
  • High School diploma or GED and related job experience required; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of related experience.
  • 1-3 plus years related experience in management.
  • MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and industry specific manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills are required.
  • Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
  • Capable of managing multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and have a willingness to take the initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Customer service focused and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
