Job description

Job Title: Technical Sales Engineer - Rochester Hills, MI
Wintegrity is searching for a Technical Sales Engineer to support customer development, technical sales, product innovation, and engineering collaboration within the automotive industry.
KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong understanding of engineering practices, including DFM, FMEA, and GD&T.
  • Ability to interpret 3D models and technical drawings.
  • CATIA experience.
  • Strong product development and design knowledge.
  • Ability to use 3D software to open, manipulate, and section models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong customer relationship development skills, particularly with purchasing and engineering stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • CRM experience, preferably Salesforce.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and market research skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively contact potential and existing customers to present current product developments and company capabilities.
  • Conduct technical discussions with customers to understand requirements, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Identify customer needs and opportunities for new product development or modifications to existing products.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between customers and internal engineering teams.
  • Translate customer feedback and technical requirements into actionable engineering and design inputs.
  • Support RFQ and quotation activities by ensuring technical requirements are clearly understood and accurately reflected in proposals.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of company products, manufacturing processes, and material compatibility.
  • Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to develop innovative solutions to customer challenges.
  • Perform competitor benchmarking and monitor automotive industry trends.
  • Provide market intelligence to support R&D strategy and long-term product roadmaps.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer purchasing and engineering teams.
  • Travel periodically by air, car, or train to company operations, customers, and suppliers.
  • Work effectively in an open-seating office environment and adapt work location as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of experience in product engineering, technical sales, or business development.
  • Automotive industry experience is required.
  • Experience in automotive or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and product development processes.
  • Hands-on experience interpreting technical drawings and 3D models.
  • CATIA experience required.
  • Strong customer-facing and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • CRM experience, particularly Salesforce, highly preferred.
  • Ability to travel periodically for business needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in an office environment with noise from cell phones, group conversations, and virtual meetings.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or an equivalent technical field.
