Salesforce System Admin information

What is a Salesforce System Admin?

A Salesforce System Admin is a professional responsible for managing and maintaining a company's Salesforce platform. Their duties include configuring user accounts, managing data, customizing Salesforce features, ensuring data security, and providing support to users. They play a critical role in optimizing how organizations use Salesforce to meet business needs, ensuring smooth operation and implementing updates or integrations as required. Typically, they also handle troubleshooting, training, and reporting tasks to ensure users can maximize the platform’s capabilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Salesforce System Admin, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Salesforce System Admin, you need a solid understanding of Salesforce CRM, data management, and business process automation, typically supported by a Salesforce Administrator certification. Familiarity with tools like Salesforce Lightning, Process Builder, and third-party integrations is essential. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills help you effectively manage user needs and system changes. These skills ensure optimal platform performance, user satisfaction, and alignment of Salesforce capabilities with business goals.

What are some common challenges Salesforce System Admins face when managing user permissions and data security?

Salesforce System Admins often encounter challenges in balancing user access with data security, ensuring each user has the right permissions without exposing sensitive information. Managing complex role hierarchies and permission sets can become intricate, especially as organizations grow and evolve. Regular audits, clear documentation, and collaboration with department heads are crucial to maintaining secure yet efficient access. Staying updated with Salesforce’s latest security features and best practices also helps admins address these challenges proactively.

Waste Solution Services

Deerfield Beach, FL • On-site

$53.75 - $71/hr

Full-time

Posted 15 days ago

Job description

Who We Are

Waste Solution Services (WSS) helps multifamily and commercial portfolios lower and stabilize waste spend. We do not haul trash; we sit between clients and haulers to audit invoices, optimize contracts, right-size service, centralize billing, and manage service issues. Our work is built around cost predictability, operational clarity, and strong execution.
Role Summary

We're looking for a Salesforce Administrator & Developer who's equally comfortable in low-code tools and Apex development. You'll bridge declarative administration and programmatic development, acting as our internal Solution Engineer — designing and deploying scalable business solutions using the full range of Salesforce's low-code and pro-code capabilities: Flow, Lightning App Builder, Schema Builder, Apex, and LWC.
You'll translate complex business requirements into robust, maintainable applications, favoring low-code solutions and reaching for Apex only when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

1. Declarative Development & Automation

  • Advanced Automation: Design, build, and maintain complex flows using Salesforce Flow Builder (Screen Flows, Record-Triggered Flows, Autolaunched Flows) to automate business processes.
  • User Interface: Customize the Lightning Experience using Lightning App Builder, Dynamic Forms, and Dynamic Actions to create intuitive, conditional user experiences.
  • Logic Implementation: Create and manage Formula Fields, Validation Rules, and Approval Processes to ensure data integrity and enforce complex business logic.

2. Solution Design & Analysis

  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with sales, support, and marketing teams to understand their workflows and translate them into technical requirements.
  • "Clicks vs. Code" Strategy: Act as a gatekeeper for customization, identifying when standard functionality suffices and knowing exactly when to escalate to programmatic development (Apex/LWC).
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date technical documentation of system customizations, flow logic, and data dictionaries.

3. System Administration & Security

  • Security Model: Manage the sharing and security model, including Profiles, Permission Sets, Sharing Rules, Role Hierarchies, and Org-Wide Defaults.
  • Data Management: Oversee data hygiene, duplicate management, and perform bulk data updates using tools like Data Loader, Inspector, or DemandTools.
  • Environment Management: Manage sandboxes and handle deployment lifecycles (Change Sets, DevOps Center, or Gearset) to move configuration from development to production.
Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Salesforce Administrator, Platform App Builder, and Developer.
  • Deep expertise in Salesforce Flow, including debugging flows and managing variables, loops, and collections.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases (objects, fields, relationships) and schema design (lookup vs. master-detail).
  • Proficiency configuring profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, and OWDs to ensure data security.
  • Experience using Claude Code or ChatGPT Codex for Salesforce development, deployment, and administration.
  • Experience using Jira (or a similar ALM tool) to manage development stories, track progress, and coordinate deployments with the development team.

Preferred (Bonus) Skills:

  • Salesforce certifications: Administrator, Platform App Builder, Agentforce Specialist, and/or Platform Developer.
  • Ability to write Apex, LWC, and SOQL, and to use debug logs for advanced troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with installing and configuring AppExchange packages.
  • Experience with Salesforce UX design concepts.
Soft Skills & Core Competencies
  • Problem solver: You enjoy digging into complex logic puzzles and finding elegant solutions.
  • Translator: You can explain technical Salesforce constraints to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
  • Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including running effective requirements-gathering sessions and documenting findings (user stories, process maps).
  • Continuous learner: You stay current on Salesforce release notes, especially Flow updates.

Notice: WSS does not accept unsolicited contact from recruiters, agencies, or third-party vendors. Applicants must complete the official application to be considered. Direct emails or phone calls to the Company will not be accepted and may result in disqualification from consideration.
