Job description

OverviewThe Columbus Life/Lafayette Life Insurance Company sales internship is a hands-on experience with various assignments within Columbus/Lafayette Life that includes internal sales, marketing, data research and technology. Responsibilities include working in our Salesforce customer relationship manager (CRM), competitive data analysis, running sales illustrations, and proactively following up on pending business. In addition, this associate will receive training in sales and marketing distribution, product development, and other areas within Columbus/Lafayette Life. Finally, as a part of Western & Southern Financial Group, this associate will be involved in larger internship activities, both virtual and on campus, to help them develop their skills and network across the Western & Southern Enterprise.ResponsibilitiesWhat you will do:
  • Salesforce - Various assignments working within the CRM to help enhance the sales experience for both the internal and external sales associate. Within Salesforce, working to proactively follow up on sales related tasks and track activities.
  • Marketing - Utilizing current technology such as Salesforce and Seismic to help provide the most meaningful content to our field.
  • Pending Business - Work closely with our Internal Sales team and new business to ensure our field is staying informed on their pending business within the CLIC/LLIC Pipeline.
  • Sales Illustrations - via inbound email or CLIC mobile requests, design sales illustrations to fit agent/client's needs.
  • Learning Initiatives
  • Structure of CLIC/LLIC and Wholesaler Distribution.
  • CLIC/LLIC Life and Annuity Product Training.
  • Shadowing of internal wholesaler and other shared services.
  • Presentation Training, both in person and virtual.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma - Required
  • College - Rising Junior or Rising Senior (Required) - Preferred
  • Strong organizational skills - Required
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel - Required
  • Ability to work independently and a self-starter - Required
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and prioritize projects - Required
Work Setting/Position Demands:
  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
