ESTIMATED PAY RANGE

$70,000 - 100,000 base pay, DOE, + commission

Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations.

JOB SUMMARY

As a Business Development Consultant in Southern Wisconsin / Northern Illinois you will:

  • Drive revenue growth by meeting/exceeding annual and multi‑year targets within the Chicago metro territory
  • Build, maintain, and expand opportunity pipelines through strong executive‑level relationships
  • Engage clients across manufacturing, medical device, life sciences, semiconductor, and other engineering‑driven industries to identify needs and deliver tailored solutions
  • Create compelling proposals that clearly link Applied's engineering and technical services to client business objectives
  • Develop and deliver polished sales presentations; negotiate and close opportunities with professionalism and confidence
  • Provide accurate, timely forecasts and use data, market insights, and sales methodologies to guide strategy
  • Coordinate with recruiting, engineering, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Represent Applied in the Chicago engineering community and contribute to initiatives that support local industry growth
  • Thrive in a dynamic, employee‑owned environment that values innovation, accountability, and client impact
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of technical sales, engineering services sales, or professional services business development
  • Proven success selling into engineering‑centric industries (manufacturing, medical device, life sciences, semiconductor, aerospace/defense, etc.)
  • Experience building and managing a territory, including strategic account development and long‑cycle consultative selling
  • Strong presentation, communication, and executive‑relationship skills
  • Ability to travel 20-25% or as needed within the Southern Wisconsin / Northern Illinois region
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Salesforce and other CRM/sales tools strongly preferred
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and a passion for delivering exceptional client outcomes
