Job description


GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Business Development Executive is responsible for generating profitable new business by leading with Quad's industry-leading print and direct mail manufacturing capabilities while expanding client relationships through Direct. A Quad Agency's full suite of marketing services.
This role develops enterprise relationships with new and existing clients, identifies growth opportunities, uncovers business challenges, and connects clients with integrated solutions spanning print production, direct mail strategy, audience intelligence, data, creative, campaign execution, measurement and optimization.
The Business Development Executive serves as both a strategic consultant and trusted advisor, partnering with internal subject matter experts to build long-term client relationships that maximize customer growth and lifetime value.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development & Sales
  • Identify, develop and close new business opportunities across targeted industries and enterprise accounts.
  • Lead with Quad's print, production and direct mail manufacturing capabilities as the primary market entry point.
  • Expand opportunities into higher-value agency services including:
    • Strategy & Planning
    • Audience Intelligence & Data
    • Creative Development
    • Direct Mail + Email, Digital/Social and Landing Pages
    • Measurement & Analytics
    • Marketing Optimization
  • Develop annual territory and account growth plans.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals and strategic outreach.
  • Utilize Salesforce to manage pipeline health, forecasting and opportunity progression.
  • Meet or exceed revenue, margin and growth objectives.

Client Strategy
  • Develop executive-level relationships with CMOs, Marketing Directors, CRM leaders and Procurement teams.
  • Understand client business challenges, growth objectives and marketing priorities.
  • Position Direct. A Quad Agency as a strategic direct marketing partner-not simply a production vendor.
  • Lead discovery sessions that uncover opportunities across print and marketing services.
  • Collaborate with internal strategy, audience, creative and production teams to develop client solutions.

Solution Development
  • Coordinate internal resources to create compelling proposals, presentations and Statements of Work.
  • Translate client needs into integrated marketing solutions that combine manufacturing excellence with marketing performance.
  • Present strategic recommendations that demonstrate measurable business value.
  • Support pricing strategy alongside Account Management and Finance.

Collaboration

  • Ensure seamless transition from business development to account activation.
  • Continue executive relationship management after implementation to identify future growth opportunities.

  • Represent Quad and Direct. A Quad Agency at conferences, trade shows and industry events.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business or Marketing
Experience:
  • 7-10+ years of consultative B2B sales experience.
  • Experience selling print, direct mail, marketing services or agency solutions.
  • Proven track record of developing enterprise relationships.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong consultative selling skills.
  • Executive presence.
  • Ability to uncover business challenges before discussing solutions.
  • Deep understanding of direct marketing and customer acquisition.
  • Understanding of print manufacturing and production workflows.
  • Familiarity with audience targeting, CRM, marketing automation and analytics.
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Salesforce proficiency.
  • Ability to collaborate across large matrix organizations.
  • Strong financial acumen including revenue, margin and ROI discussions.
  • Experience in customer relationship management (CRM) and other sales tools, including Salesforce, Zoom Info, Winmo
  • Proficiency in the full Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment

Employees can be expected to be paid an annualized salary range of $150,000 - $210,000, based on variations in knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions.
