Your Contributions to the Team:
The Quality Assurance Manager will plan and manage all aspects of the quality assurance and regulatory compliance activities for GloryBee's natural ingredient portfolio. They implement GloryBee's Quality Management Strategy and oversee the day-to-day quality checks within production, raw materials, including lab work, data recording and analysis. They also supervise the work and professional development of Quality Control team members. This person will support and collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams including Sales and Marketing, Production, Procurement, and Product Management. Work location is 1680 Irving Road Eugene OR 97402.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership, oversight, and support to the achievement of technical excellence in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety systems according to Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards.
  • Manage quality specifications and ensure all products meet expectations
  • Operate and maintain in-house testing as required
  • Ensure all data is recorded, analyzed, and reported on analytical, regulatory, and sensory related data
  • Act as a liaison for all regulatory compliance agencies (USDA, FDA, etc.) and matters (audits, complaints, certifications, recall or withdrawal actions, etc.). Interacts with internal and external customers representing GloryBee's Quality Assurance leadership.
  • Manages risk and enhances product performance through new and innovative quality systems and enhancements to existing quality systems
  • Provides support and technical expertise to clients and cross-functional project teams, including long term continuous improvement projects and daily production occurrences
  • Works closely with Procurement teams to monitor and review new materials; provides recommendations based on materials' performance
  • Creates ingredient statements and nutritional panels, drafts specification and batch sheets for new and existing products
  • Oversees all internal capabilities, regulatory activities, and documentation processes relating to product labeling, safety, shelf-life testing, and quality practices
  • Facilitates cross-functional meetings, schedules meetings, coordinates calendars, tracks budget expenditures, and distributes reports
  • Facilitates continuous improvement efforts and follows up on corrective action implementation
  • Leads a team of Quality Assurance professionals; allocates work and makes decisions regarding employment, performance appraisals, training and development, salary recommendations, promotions, and transfers
  • Keeping members of management and the executive team appraised of project updates as well as opportunities for improvement

What We Are Looking For:
  • MS or BS degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Foods & Nutrition, Food Engineering, or a related discipline is required
  • 7 to 10+ years' progressive experience with increasing responsibilities within Quality Assurance, ideally within a food manufacturing setting, with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful food products
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in people and project leadership within a manufacturing setting
  • Prior experience selecting, mentoring, and developing team members or leading project teams
  • SQF, PCQI and HACCP trained or ability to be trained within 3 months of hire
  • Successful history of leading growth initiatives, while also demonstrating a hands-on approach to getting the work done
  • An understanding of food manufacturing, product development, food safety principles, guidelines, and objectives
  • Critical thinking and logical reasoning skills, including complex problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Project management skills
  • Experience creating and delivering high quality presentations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient skill level in Outlook, Excel, Word (must have the ability to sort data, format professionally, and add/use formulas)
  • Adept at taking initiative to track down information, communicate updates, and recommend opportunities for improvement
  • High level of attention to detail, time management, and organization
  • Ability to provide timely and consistent follow-through on workflow
