Sales Performance Consulting information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sales Performance Consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Performance Consultant, you need expertise in sales strategy, business analytics, and a background in business, sales, or consulting, often supported by a relevant degree or certifications such as Certified Professional Sales Leader (CPSL). Familiarity with CRM platforms, sales enablement tools, and data analysis software is typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills help consultants effectively influence change and drive results within client organizations. These skills and qualifications are vital to diagnosing sales challenges, implementing effective solutions, and delivering measurable improvements in sales performance.

Do sales consultants get paid hourly?

Sales performance consulting roles typically do not pay hourly; instead, consultants often earn a combination of base salary and performance-based commissions or bonuses. Compensation structures vary by employer and may include project-based fees or retainer agreements, especially for independent consultants or firms. Hourly pay is less common in this field, which emphasizes results and client outcomes.

What does a sales performance consultant do?

A sales performance consultant analyzes and improves a company's sales processes, strategies, and team performance. They often use data analysis, training, and coaching to help sales teams meet targets and increase revenue, typically working with CRM tools and sales metrics. Their role involves identifying gaps, developing solutions, and implementing best practices to optimize sales effectiveness.

What is the difference between Sales Performance Consulting vs Sales Operations?

AspectSales Performance ConsultingSales Operations

Work EnvironmentConsulting firms, client sites, corporate officesCorporate sales departments, internal teams
Employer & Industry UsageConsulting firms, large corporations across industriesCompanies with dedicated sales teams in various industries
Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding consulting services to improve sales performanceOptimizing internal sales processes and systems

Sales Performance Consulting focuses on advising organizations to enhance sales strategies and outcomes through expert analysis and tailored solutions. In contrast, Sales Operations manages the internal processes, systems, and data that support the sales team’s efficiency. Both roles are vital but serve different functions within the sales ecosystem.

Is 30 too old to get into consulting?

Sales Performance Consulting is a field that values experience and industry knowledge, and age is generally not a barrier to entry. Many professionals transition into consulting roles later in their careers, leveraging skills such as data analysis, communication, and strategic planning. Success depends more on relevant skills, certifications, and networking than on age.

What is sales performance consulting?

Sales performance consulting is a service provided by experts who help organizations improve their sales effectiveness and achieve better results. Consultants analyze existing sales processes, identify areas for improvement, and recommend strategies such as training, process optimization, and technology integration. Their goal is to increase sales productivity, enhance team performance, and drive revenue growth. They may also assist with change management and the implementation of best practices across the sales organization.

Is 100 an hour good for consulting?

For a sales performance consulting role, earning $100 an hour is generally considered competitive, especially for experienced consultants with specialized skills or certifications. Rates can vary based on industry, location, and the complexity of the project, but this rate aligns with mid to senior-level consulting fees in the field.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Sales Performance Consulting, and how can they be addressed?

Sales Performance Consultants often encounter challenges such as resistance to change from sales teams, aligning diverse stakeholder expectations, and accurately measuring the impact of their recommendations. Overcoming these obstacles typically involves strong communication skills, fostering trust through transparency, and using data-driven insights to demonstrate value. Collaborating closely with sales leaders and regularly providing actionable feedback can help ensure successful implementation of new strategies and sustained performance improvements.

Job description

Director of Sales Performance

Aesthetic Enterprises | Scottsdale, AZ (Hybrid — with regular travel to clinic locations) | $90,000 base + performance bonus | OTE $180,000–$250,000+

About Us

We're a fast-growing licensor in the regenerative health and hair restoration space, operating a network of 50+ licensed clinics across the United States. Our model gives independent operators a proven business system, premium products, and centralized marketing and training support — and we've built one of the largest networks of its kind in the country.

We're entering a high-growth phase. Our patient demand is strong, our product offering is differentiated, and our top-performing clinics are converting at 50%+ on consultations. The opportunity ahead is enormous: lift the rest of our network to top-tier performance, and we unlock substantial revenue growth across every market we serve.

That's where you come in.

The Role

We're hiring a Director of Sales Performance to be the driving force behind closing rate improvement across our entire clinic network. This is one of the most consequential roles in the company. You will own a single, clear mandate: lift average closing rates from 15–30% to 50%+ across 50+ independent clinic locations.

You won't manage a direct sales team. Instead, you'll work hand-in-hand with the sales consultants at each of our licensee clinics — diagnosing what's holding them back, coaching them up, building the systems and content that scale our sales methodology, and being the relentless presence that makes sure every location is performing at its potential. When a consultation doesn't close, we want to know why — and what we're doing about it.

You'll report directly to ownership and partner closely with our founder, who built and trains the current sales methodology. Your job is to take what works at our corporate office (70%+ close rates) and make it work everywhere.

What You'll Own

● Closing rate performance across all 50+ clinic locations. This is the single metric you'll be measured against. Every clinic, every month.

● Hands-on coaching and training. You'll run virtual coaching sessions, lead in-person training at clinics, ride along on consultations, review call recordings, and work one-on-one with sales consultants who need to level up.

● Scaling our sales methodology. You'll partner with leadership to take our proven consultation approach and build it into a repeatable, teachable, scalable system — curriculum, role-play scenarios, objection-handling frameworks, certification pathways.

● Performance diagnostics. You'll help build the visibility and reporting that tells us exactly where each clinic stands, where leads are falling out of the funnel, and what specific interventions move the needle.

● Peer learning programs. Our top closers are some of our best assets. You'll design and lead programs that get them sharing what works with the rest of the network.

● Travel to clinic locations as needed to support, coach, and accelerate performance — particularly for underperforming or high-potential locations.

● Working with new licensees as they ramp, ensuring sales performance is dialed in from day one.

● Network-wide sales talent quality. You'll own the screening, interviewing, and approval process for every sales consultant hired across our 50+ clinic locations and all new openings. Working with licensee owners, you'll source qualified candidates, conduct substantive interviews, and provide approved hires to the clinic owner. No sales consultant joins the network without passing through your evaluation. You'll also build the hiring scorecard, interview framework, and onboarding pathway that ensures every new consultant ramps fast and ramps right.

Who You Are

● A proven sales leader who has demonstrably moved closing rates. You can show us, with numbers, where you've taken a sales team or sales network from underperforming to top-quartile. This is non-negotiable. If you can't tell us “I took X% to Y% in Z months,” this isn't the right role.

● Experienced influencing without authority. You've worked with independent operators, franchisees, dealers, multi-unit retail, or another distributed sales environment where you didn't have direct managerial authority but still drove results. You know how to coach people who don't technically report to you.

● A great teacher and coach. You break down complex sales situations into teachable concepts. People who work with you walk away saying “I learned something I can use tomorrow.”

● Highly accountable and hands-on. You're not a strategist who stays in the office building decks. You're in the field, in the consultations, on the calls, with your sleeves rolled up. You measure yourself by what your locations actually produce.

● Coachable and humble. Our methodology works. You'll be expected to learn it deeply before you adapt it — and to bring your own expertise to make it even better.

● Comfortable in a fast-moving, founder-led environment. We move quickly, we expect a lot, and we reward people who deliver.

● A strong evaluator of sales talent. You can spot a great consultative seller in a 45-minute interview. You've built and used structured hiring frameworks and you know the difference between someone who interviews well and someone who actually closes.

Required Background

● 7+ years of sales experience, with 3+ years in a sales leadership, sales enablement, or sales performance role.

● Demonstrated track record of measurably lifting close rates or sales performance across a team or distributed network.

● Experience working with independent operators, franchisees, multi-unit retail, dealer networks, or similar distributed sales environments strongly preferred.

● Experience in consultative or high-ticket sales (services priced $5K+) preferred.

● Background in aesthetics, regenerative medicine, hair restoration, med spa, or related industries is a strong plus but not required — the right sales leader from an adjacent high-ticket consultative industry will succeed here.

● Based in Arizona or willing to relocate; regular presence at our Scottsdale office is required.

● Willingness to travel up to 30–40% to clinic locations nationwide.

What We Offer

● $90,000 base salary with performance-based variable compensation.

● Realistic on-target earnings of $180,000–$250,000+ with significant upside for top performers who drive network-wide results.

● Direct access to and partnership with founders — this is a seat at the table, not a layer in a hierarchy.

● The chance to own one of the most important strategic levers in a rapidly scaling business.

● A clear, measurable mandate where your impact is directly visible in the company's results.

● Hybrid work flexibility with regular in-office collaboration at our Scottsdale headquarters.
