What is a sales development software?

Sales Development Software is a digital tool designed to help sales teams identify, engage, and nurture potential customers (leads) more efficiently. It automates tasks such as lead generation, outreach, follow-up, and tracking interactions, enabling sales representatives to focus on building relationships and closing deals. These platforms often integrate with CRM systems, provide analytics, and help streamline the sales process to increase productivity and conversion rates.

How does a sales development software role typically interact with sales and marketing teams?

Professionals in Sales Development Software roles often serve as a vital link between the sales and marketing teams. They collaborate closely with marketing to understand campaign goals and messaging, while also working with sales to qualify leads and ensure smooth handoffs. Success in this role often requires clear communication, sharing insights on lead quality, and providing feedback on prospect engagement. This collaborative approach helps optimize the sales funnel and drives more effective outreach strategies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sales development representative in software, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Development Representative (SDR) in software, you need strong communication skills, a solid understanding of sales processes, and ideally a background in business or technology. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms like Salesforce, sales enablement tools, and sometimes relevant sales certifications are commonly required. Outstanding SDRs excel at active listening, resilience, and time management to build rapport and efficiently qualify leads. These skills and tools are vital for generating high-quality leads, supporting the sales pipeline, and driving revenue growth in a competitive software market.

Job description

No Relocation Assistance Offered
Job Number #174326 - Scottsdale, Arizona, United States
Who We Are
Colgate-Palmolive Company is a global consumer products company operating in over 200 countries specializing in Oral Care, Personal Care, Home Care, Skin Care, and Pet Nutrition. Our products are trusted in more households than any other brand in the world, making us a household name!
Join Colgate-Palmolive, a caring, innovative growth company reimagining a healthier future for people, their pets, and our planet. Guided by our core values—Caring, Inclusive, and Courageous—we foster a culture that inspires our people to achieve common goals. Together, let's build a brighter, healthier future for all.

We are looking for a high-energy, revenue-driven Sales Development Representative to fuel our B2B growth. In this role, you will be the commercial engine for a dedicated portfolio of 250+ professional accounts (Dermatologists, Estheticians, and Medical Spas). Serving as their primary brand advocate, your mission is to drive significant and sustainable revenue growth through proactive sales outreach, consultative upselling, new product adoption, and superior retention strategies.

This role requires a commercial, consultant’s mindset. Rather than simply managing accounts, the ideal candidate will proactively identify business challenges within their portfolio and articulate how PCA Skin and EltaMD solutions drive measurable value, increased order sizes, and a strong ROI for our partners.

This position is based in Scottsdale, AZ and is expected to work in office 4x week (Monday - Thursday).

Responsibilities:

  • Revenue & Target Ownership: Own and execute strategic sales plans to consistently meet or exceed individual quarterly revenue targets. Drive product portfolio growth and velocity to guarantee predictable revenue generation and goal attainment.

  • Portfolio Expansion & Retention: Proactively manage and grow 400+ existing professional accounts using a virtual sales model (Calls, SMS, Email, and Video) to hit core KPIs and commercial business objectives.

  • Consultative & Value-Based Selling: Answer complex product questions from clinicians, providing compelling, data-driven recommendations that actively increase average order value (AOV) and brand loyalty.

  • Proactive Sales Outreach: Conduct high-volume, targeted outbound "success calls" to introduce new product launches, pitch revised protocols, and upsell continuing education courses.

  • Commercial Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong, revenue-generating relationships with customers, acting as a trusted business advisor to help them scale their practices using our products.

  • Education Advocacy: Leverage advanced training and skin care expertise as a sales tool, inspiring licensed professionals to participate in education that drives product utilization.

  • CRM Integrity: Meticulously document all customer interactions within C4C/Service Cloud to maintain a seamless, data-driven "360-degree" view of the account portfolio.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in inside sales, account management, or B2B sales (experience in the aesthetics, medical, or beauty industry is a major plus)
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, CRM software (SAP C4C/Service Cloud or Salesforce), and virtual meeting tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Licensed Esthetician credential
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish to better support our diverse professional customer base
  • The Revenue Driver: You are motivated by hitting numbers, overcoming objections, and finding hidden revenue opportunities within existing accounts.
  • The Relationship Builder: You are outgoing, credible, and friendly, with a natural ability to build fast rapport and establish trust with medical professionals and clinicians.
  • The Self-Starter: You are a resilient, multi-tasking pro who takes absolute ownership of your portfolio goals while thriving in a collaborative team atmosphere.
  • The Effective Communicator: You possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate value and command attention within the first 30 seconds of a call.
  • Resilient & Adaptable: You possess a thick skin and a positive attitude; you view objections as a puzzle to solve rather than a dead end.
  • Highly Organized: Strong time-management skills with the ability to balance high-volume outbound calling with administrative accuracy and strong follow-through.
