What is a sales development software?

Sales Development Software is a digital tool designed to help sales teams identify, engage, and nurture potential customers (leads) more efficiently. It automates tasks such as lead generation, outreach, follow-up, and tracking interactions, enabling sales representatives to focus on building relationships and closing deals. These platforms often integrate with CRM systems, provide analytics, and help streamline the sales process to increase productivity and conversion rates.

How does a sales development software role typically interact with sales and marketing teams?

Professionals in Sales Development Software roles often serve as a vital link between the sales and marketing teams. They collaborate closely with marketing to understand campaign goals and messaging, while also working with sales to qualify leads and ensure smooth handoffs. Success in this role often requires clear communication, sharing insights on lead quality, and providing feedback on prospect engagement. This collaborative approach helps optimize the sales funnel and drives more effective outreach strategies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sales development representative in software, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Development Representative (SDR) in software, you need strong communication skills, a solid understanding of sales processes, and ideally a background in business or technology. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms like Salesforce, sales enablement tools, and sometimes relevant sales certifications are commonly required. Outstanding SDRs excel at active listening, resilience, and time management to build rapport and efficiently qualify leads. These skills and tools are vital for generating high-quality leads, supporting the sales pipeline, and driving revenue growth in a competitive software market.

Job description

Benefits:
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • Training & development
  • Bonus based on performance

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an outgoing, community-minded Business Development & Brand Ambassador to generate qualified opportunities for kitchen and whole-home remodeling projects.
You will represent our company at home shows, farmers' markets, trade shows, community events, networking opportunities, and through local outreach. Your primary goal is to connect with homeowners, understand their remodeling needs, pre-qualify potential projects, and schedule design consultations.
This is a flexible, performance-based opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, building relationships, and creating new business. There is no base salary.
What You'll Do
  • Generate remodeling leads through community events, networking, referral relationships, local businesses, and proactive outreach
  • Speak with homeowners about their kitchen and whole-home remodeling goals
  • Pre-qualify prospective clients using a company-provided questionnaire
  • Schedule qualified homeowners for initial design consultations
  • Enter appointments and lead details accurately into Service Minder
  • Notify the sales team promptly when qualified appointments are scheduled
  • Confirm appointments and follow up with homeowners to improve attendance
  • Represent the company at home shows, farmers markets, trade shows, and approved community events
  • Support approved pre-event, live-event, and post-event social media promotion
  • Use company-approved messaging, promotions, and marketing materials
  • Track lead sources, appointments, attendance, and project outcomes

What Counts as a Qualified Lead?
A qualified lead must:
  • Be a homeowner or authorized property decision-maker
  • Be located within the company's approved service territory
  • Have a genuine interest in an eligible kitchen or whole-home remodeling project
  • Have project timing and investment expectations that reasonably align with our services
  • Provide valid contact information and consent to company follow-up
  • Book and attend an initial design consultation
  • Be entered completely and accurately into Service Minder
  • Not already exist in the company's active database or have been submitted by another source

Business cards, raffle entries, duplicate contacts, vendor solicitations, and unverified names without clear remodeling interest are not considered qualified leads.
Compensation
This is a commission-only opportunity with no base salary.
  • $150 for each qualified initial consultation that is booked and attended
  • Additional closed-project bonuses based on final contract value:
    • $20,000-$29,999 contract: $300 bonus
    • $30,000-$49,999 contract: $450 bonus
    • $50,000-$74,999 contract: $600 bonus
    • $75,000-$99,999 contract: $750 bonus
    • $100,000 or more: $850 bonus

Including the previously paid appointment fee, the maximum total payout for a single originating lead is $1,000.
Example: Fifteen attended consultations would generate $2,250 in appointment compensation. Four closed projects averaging a $600 bonus would add approximately $2,400, for illustrative monthly earnings of $4,650.
This example is not a guarantee. Actual earnings depend on qualified appointments, homeowner attendance, contract values, closed projects, and individual performance.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in business development, networking, appointment setting, community outreach, field marketing, or consultative sales
  • Remodeling, construction, real estate, design, or home-services experience is helpful but not required
  • Friendly, confident, and professional communication skills
  • Ability to start conversations and build trust with homeowners
