Job Summary (List Format):
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of control software for residential and commercial HVAC products across multiple platforms and product families.
- Manage and execute individual projects throughout the complete product development lifecycle, including new product development and sustaining initiatives.
- Lead the development of new projects involving major changes or entirely new designs.
- Oversee control software qualification and ensure agency compliance, interfacing with regulatory and test agencies.
- Collaborate with vendors, customers, field personnel, and cross-functional teams including manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality, and supply chain.
- Provide technical expertise and support for existing and new products, including documentation (bills of material, drawings, product change notifications).
- Design, optimize, and qualify control software using advanced analytical and experimental methods to ensure best-in-class performance and reliability.
- Evaluate, source, and analyze electronic components for control board design.
- Review and provide feedback on electrical designs and other engineering areas.
- Assess and integrate new technologies applicable to HVAC control systems.
- Conduct technical and business presentations as required.
- Apply knowledge of control theory, sequence of operations, software specifications, and electrical wiring methods.
- Utilize Integrated Development Environments (e.g., MP Lab, STM32CubeIDE) and programming languages (C, C++, assembly, Python, Visual Basic).
- Use version control systems (e.g., Git, Vault, Apache) and be familiar with embedded operating systems (Linux, etc.).
- Apply principles of New Product Development (NPD), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
- Work with communication protocols such as BACnet, LONtalk, and ModBus.
- Support and troubleshoot manufacturing processes and methods related to HVAC&R products, using hands-on skills with laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
