What is a sales development software?

Sales Development Software is a digital tool designed to help sales teams identify, engage, and nurture potential customers (leads) more efficiently. It automates tasks such as lead generation, outreach, follow-up, and tracking interactions, enabling sales representatives to focus on building relationships and closing deals. These platforms often integrate with CRM systems, provide analytics, and help streamline the sales process to increase productivity and conversion rates.

Is sales development software an entry level position?

Sales development roles involving software typically are entry-level positions that require basic communication skills, familiarity with CRM tools, and a willingness to learn sales processes. Many companies offer training and do not require extensive prior experience, making it accessible for recent graduates or those new to sales. Advancement often depends on performance and skill development.

How does a sales development software role typically interact with sales and marketing teams?

Professionals in Sales Development Software roles often serve as a vital link between the sales and marketing teams. They collaborate closely with marketing to understand campaign goals and messaging, while also working with sales to qualify leads and ensure smooth handoffs. Success in this role often requires clear communication, sharing insights on lead quality, and providing feedback on prospect engagement. This collaborative approach helps optimize the sales funnel and drives more effective outreach strategies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sales development representative in software, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Development Representative (SDR) in software, you need strong communication skills, a solid understanding of sales processes, and ideally a background in business or technology. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms like Salesforce, sales enablement tools, and sometimes relevant sales certifications are commonly required. Outstanding SDRs excel at active listening, resilience, and time management to build rapport and efficiently qualify leads. These skills and tools are vital for generating high-quality leads, supporting the sales pipeline, and driving revenue growth in a competitive software market.

Job description

About CodeRabbit
CodeRabbit is an innovative research and development company focused on building extraordinarily productive human-machine collaboration systems. Our primary goal is to create the next generation of Gen AI-driven code reviewers: a symbiotic partnership between humans and advanced algorithms that significantly outperforms individual engineers. We combine language models with human ingenuity to push the boundaries of software development efficiency and quality.
Role Overview
We're hiring a driven Sales Development Representative to join our team of sellers who thrive in high-growth environments. You'll be on the front lines of CodeRabbit's growth, building pipeline from scratch and opening doors at ICP-fit accounts within our Enterprise segment.
What You Will Do
  • Generate qualified pipeline for our Enterprise and Emerging Enterprise Sales Segments, driving pipeline activities across cold call, email, and LinkedIn, targeting technical decision-makers
  • Follow up with marketing-generated leads promptly and within agreed SLAs
  • Qualify prospects and generate high-quality meetings for the Account Executive team
  • Partner closely with marketing and sales to sharpen messaging and improve conversion across the funnel
  • Become a genuine expert on the developer tools landscape and CodeRabbit's positioning within it
  • Consistently meet and exceed quota as a core measure of success in this role

What You'll Bring
  • At least 1 year of sales experience in a SaaS company
  • The drive to hit the phone, send the email, and do it again tomorrow
  • Real character: you're honest, resilient, and you do what you say you'll do
  • Sharp intelligence: you can hold a conversation with a technical buyer and make it count
  • Coachability: you want feedback and you act on it
  • Strong sense of ownership, self-motivation, and eagerness to acquire new skills and solve new problems

Bonus Points (not required)
  • Experience selling into a developer / technical persona

Our Values
  • Collaborative Humans: Prioritizing collective intelligence
  • Fearless Innovators: Turning obstacles into growth opportunities
  • Persistent, Passionate Developers: Thriving on complex, long-term challenges
  • Impact-Driven Creators: Crafting intuitive tools for developers
  • Rapid Learners and Un-learners: Adapting quickly in our fast-paced technological world

What We Offer
  1. Work on cutting-edge technology with real-world impact
  2. Collaborative and innovative environment
  3. Competitive salary, equity, and benefits
  4. Professional development opportunities

This role requires a minimum of 3 days in our Boston office
OTE for this role is $102k, with a base of $72k. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location.
