Tennessee. POSITION SUMMARY
The Outside Industrial Sales is responsible for developing new business, growing existing customer relationships, and increasing sales of industrial equipment, repair services, and engineered solutions throughout the assigned territory. This position focuses on supporting customers in the water and wastewater, industrial, manufacturing, power, and municipal markets by providing application expertise and value-driven solutions for pumps, blowers, process equipment, and repair services.
Working closely with engineering, service, operations, and manufacturer partners, the Outside Industrial Sales identifies customer needs, develops solutions, and delivers exceptional customer service throughout the sales process.
KEY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Business Development
• Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve revenue and profitability objectives.
• Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within assigned markets and territories.
• Prospect new customers through networking, referrals, industry events, and targeted sales activities.
• Expand market share by promoting equipment sales, repair services, preventative maintenance, and aftermarket solutions.
Customer Relationship Management
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with industrial, municipal, engineering, contractor, and end-user customers.
• Conduct regular customer visits to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Serve as a trusted advisor by recommending equipment, repair, and service solutions that improve reliability and performance.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through responsive communication and follow-up.
Sales and Technical Support
• Prepare quotations, proposals, and presentations that address customer requirements.
• Collaborate with inside sales, service, engineering, and operations to develop customer solutions.
• Provide application guidance regarding pumps, blowers, process equipment, controls, and related industrial systems.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts within established company guidelines.
• Support project execution by maintaining communication with customers throughout the sales cycle.
Market Development
• Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies.
• Develop relationships with consulting engineers, municipalities, contractors, industrial facilities, and manufacturers.
• Represent the Company at trade shows, industry associations, and customer events.
• Identify opportunities to expand service offerings and introduce new products.
Reporting and Administration
• Maintain customer activity, opportunities, and sales forecasts within the Company's CRM system.
• Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and territory updates for management.
• Participate in sales meetings, product training, and strategic planning activities.
• Maintain knowledge of manufacturer products, applications, and industry regulations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Management, or related field; advanced degree or technical certifications are a plus.
• 5 years or more of industrial sales experience, preferably within water and wastewater, pumps, rotating equipment, industrial process equipment, or municipal infrastructure.
• Proven track record of success in Industrial Sales, preferably within the water/wastewater treatment or pump repair industry.
• Strong understanding of fluid and air handling technologies, pumps, blowers and related equipment.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel as required to meet with clients and attend industry events.
• Results-driven with a strategic mindset and strong business acumen.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory (50-75%).
• Regular visits to customer facilities, construction sites, water and wastewater treatment plants, and industrial manufacturing facilities.
• Ability to work in office, shop, and field environments, including occasional exposure to industrial equipment and outdoor conditions.
