Black & McDonald's Vancouver Service Team is growing and we are seeking a bright, motivated and high performing individual to join our team in the role of Business Development Representative (BDR).

What is a BDR at Black & McDonald?

  • You will own your territory, within which, you will generate new Facility Service and Management Agreements in the retail, commercial, industrial and institutional markets.
  • You will be a member of the Service Sales Team and will engage potential clients to evaluate their current total cost of ownership and operation of their mechanical assets.
  • You will work towards the goal of identifying, qualifying and closing opportunities by utilizing the training provided through Black & McDonald's proven proactive sales strategy.

              What you will do:

              • Researching, cold calling and setting up meetings with potential clients
              • Utilize proven sales methods to identify and target potential clients for future service work
              • Meet with and develop impressionable relationships with potential clients to successfully understand their needs and specific requirements
              • Assess potential client needs and resources and recommend the appropriate solution
              • Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of internal staff and customers
              • Work with Project Representative and provide input where non contractual HVAC related services must be tailored to suit clients' needs
              • Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to potential clients
              • Prepare sales contracts under the direction of the Sales Team
              • Price the agreement according to the company pricing standards
              • Prepare start-up documents for set up and attend start up meetings with new clients
              • Continue personal professional development
              • Participate in department planning meetings as necessary
              • Keep internal software and database up to date with sales activities

              EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

              • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Business or Marketing (or equivalent combination of education and experience) is preferred

              WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

              • 2-5 years of experience in a "hunter" sales role with strong cold calling abilities
              • Previous experience in Business Development/Sales would be an asset
              • Previous sales experience in HVAC / maintenance related industries would be an asset
              • Successful track record in hitting sales targets and quotas

              SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

              • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
              • Superb time management and organization skills
              • Competency in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
              • Competency in a web based sales tracking software such as Sales Force
              • High degree of self-motivation and resilience
              • Willing and able to travel within the Greater Vancouver area for site visits as needed
              • Clean non-graduated Class 5 BC Drivers' license and abstract

              The expected salary range for this role is between $70,000 and $80,000 plus commission (OTE $100,000 - $120,000). The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
