Job description

Role Description

Cash Audit reconciles the store safe and tills, prepares deposits, records cashier and store overages/shortages. This role includes organizing and filing paperwork such as payment media reconciliation, customer charge accounts, gift certificates, etc, communicating with Front End PIC and Store Management about cashier accountability and performance and assisting in tracking cashier performance.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Greets customers, answers questions, thanks customers and provides prompt and courteous service.
  • Audits the store safe and randomly selected tills daily.
  • Reconciles all payment media from the previous day utilizing computer generated reports.
  • Enters sales and payment data into company computer program.
  • Transmits paperwork to appropriate offices in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with the Store Manager and Accounting Office about any reconciliation discrepancies and researches causes.
  • Provides customers with requested paperwork related to their purchase.
  • Observes employee performance and paperwork to determine that proper cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Provides training, encouragement, advice and feedback to cashiers.
  • Performs cashiering, boxing, and other front end duties as necessary, upholding safety and security procedures.
  • Assists customers with questions and problems regarding merchandise, payment, or service to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Makes supply orders, arranges for equipment maintenance and repair, tracks cashier overages/shortages, and oversees customer service desk as needed.
  • Assures return and exchange procedures are followed.
  • Completes all cash audit functions in a timely manner (less than four hours per day for warehouse stores).
  • Operate cash register, hand-held/tabletop scanners, conveyor belt, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, adding machine, computer, and cardboard baler.
  • Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.

Experience/Education:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Supervisory Experience Preferred.
  • Customer service, math, 10 key, computer skills preferred.
  • Training and certification as required by local law.

Working Environment
Work is performed in a store setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders, frequently lift/carry up to 10 pounds below waist, up to 50 pounds at waist/chest and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
