Job description

Firefighter/Paramedic

Under the direction of the Fire Chief, fights fires, assists in and performs emergency medical and rescue work; participates in fire prevention, station maintenance, cooking, cleaning, and training activities; mitigates hazardous material incidents; performs related duties as required in addition the paramedic assignment includes providing advance life support care to injured or critically ill victims. Paramedics examine, evaluate, and treat patient conditions; communicate patient conditions to the base station.

MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED supplemented by graduation from a State Certified Fire Academy required.
  • License/Certification: Valid California Class C drivers or Class C Firefighter license and insurable on company policy. Driving record in compliance with company policy. Valid California Ambulance Driver's License (from DMV) or able to obtain within 180 days of employment. Valid Medical Examiner's Card (from DMV) or able to obtain within 30 days of employment. Hazardous Materials First Responder Operational (FRO) Certificate or obtain within 30 days of employment. Valid Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic Certification (EMT-P) Valid American Heart Association or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider level CPR certification. California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) Firefighter Academy Certificate. Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or RHEART equivalent. Valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Valid International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) / (PHTLS) certification. Valid Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority REMSA Accreditation or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
