ROLE:
Schnabel is looking for a Safety Manager in the Denver metro area to protect the most valuable part of our business - our people. Safety is a key part of our culture. We want to add another forward thinker that will keep our people safe. This position reports directly to our Safety and Risk Management Director. This role is regional and will require extensive travel to project sites. This is a full-time position with future growth opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in a team environment to oversee and make decisions related to project safety, health, and environmental policies such as:
  • Lead and direct comprehensive safety oversight across projects, including conducting high-level site assessments of personnel, equipment, and operations to drive continuous improvement
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine company-wide safety policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance workforce protection and operational efficiency
  • Champion innovation in materials handling and construction methodologies by evaluating emerging technologies, equipment, and processes to reduce risk and improve productivity
  • Analyze incident trends, loss data, and leading/lagging indicators to identify systemic risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies
  • Design and oversee the execution of advanced safety training programs, ensuring consistency, effectiveness, and alignment with organizational risk exposure
  • Ensure enterprise-wide compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), while proactively anticipating regulatory changes
  • Interpret and influence regulatory requirements and industry standards, driving organizational adoption and integration into operational practices
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key safety performance metrics, using data analytics to inform executive decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead complex incident and injury investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective action development, and communication of lessons learned across the organization
  • Oversee the development, review, and field implementation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), ensuring they are risk-based, practical, and effectively communicated to project teams
  • Partner with senior operations leadership to integrate safety into project planning, execution, and client deliverables, ensuring alignment with contractual and operational requirements
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to safety staff, fostering professional development and building a high-performing safety culture across the organization
  • Maintain a strong field presence through regular travel to project sites, reinforcing expectations, supporting project teams, and ensuring consistent application of safety standards

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in safety science is preferred but not required
  • CSP is preferred but not required
  • CHST is preferred but not required
  • 5 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA and EPA standards regarding construction
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
  • Ability to speak, read and write both Spanish and English preferred but not required
  • Self-motivated, great time management skills, strong work ethic and business integrity
  • Availability for heavy travel through ground and air
