Job description


Padre Dam Municipal Water District is recruiting for one position dedicated to supporting and advancing the Districtโ€™s Safety and Risk Management programs. Depending on the qualifications, experience and skills of the selected candidate, the position may be filled at either the Safety and Risk Manager or Safety and Risk Coordinator level.

This position is eligible for appointment within the following Salary Grades:

  • Safety & Risk Manager โ€“ Salary Grade 44: $65.04 - $92.02/hour
  • Safety & Risk Coordinator โ€“ Salary Grade 35: $53.95 - $76.30/hour

At the Manager level, this position provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Districtโ€™s Safety and Risk Management programs, including program planning, budget development and monitoring, policy development, regulatory compliance and Districtwide mitigation strategies. This Manager serves as a key advisor to leadership and departments, helps identify emerging risks, evaluates organization impacts and implements proactive solutions that support employee safety, operational continuity and fiscal responsibility. When filled at the Manager level, this position differs from the Coordinator level in that it is expected to operate with significant independence, provide direction for comprehensive safety, risk, liability, emergency preparedness and related compliance programs and champion Districtwide initiatives that strengthen overall safety and support strategic objectives.

At the Coordinator level, this position provides technical, administrative and operational support for the Districtโ€™s Safety and Risk Management programs. Responsibilities include coordinating safety training, assisting with policy and procedure updates, supporting liability claims and incident tracking, coordinating inspections and corrective actions and working with departments to promote safe work practices. The Coordinator position focuses on carrying out program activities, supporting implementation efforts and helping ensure day-to-day safety and risk management functions are completed effectively. When filled at the Coordinator level, this position differs from the Occupational Health and Safety Specialist position in that it has a broader role, supporting both safety and risk management programs while the Specialist position is focused on occupational health and safety compliance and performing field-level safety tasks.
