Job description

Zurichโ€™s Large Casualty Risk Engineering team is seeking a Health and Safety Risk Engineering Consultant with industry experience in manufacturing, logistics, chemical manufacturing, hospitality, food, and/or healthcare within safety, and/or loss control to support the Large Casualty Underwriting Teams. In this role you will service customers across the South region. In this role you will service customers across the South region. This role includes a company car with 25% - 30% expected travel.ย 

Health and Safety Risk Engineering Consultants:

  • Perform field engineering risk assessments and risk improvement services for prospect accounts and bound accounts. This may be done virtually but often requires travel where necessary but primarily within the region.
  • Provide engineering support to underwriting teams and attend client/broker meetings as needed.
  • Manage account risk portfolio and provide account level engineering to meet underwriting requirements.
  • Provide advanced casualty consultative services to customers, identify exposures with significant loss potential, investigate cause/effect of major losses and review/assess casualty management program effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement customer service strategies that reduce losses and improve customer operations.
  • Monitor casualty account engineering services to ensure that delivery is proper, on-time, and cost effective.
  • Assist in marketing Zurich Resilience Solutions, and risk transfer insurance products in conjunction with underwriting professionals and agents across company business segments.ย 

Final candidates will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record background check as this position is eligible for a company car.

The role will be filled at the Risk Engineering Consultantย or Senior Risk Engineering Consultant level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicantโ€™s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Basic Qualifications:ย 

Risk Engineering Consultant:

  • Bachelors Degree and 3 or more years of experience within the Health and Safety Risk Engineering areaย 
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience within the Health and Safety Risk Engineering area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Apprentice, including an Associates degree and 3 or more years of experience within the Health and Safety Risk Engineering area
    AND
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a team environment

OR

Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:

  • Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience within the Health and Safety Risk Engineering area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience within the Health and Safety Risk Engineering area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Apprentice, including an Associates degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area
    AND
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a team environmentย 

Preferred Qualifications:ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering, Health and Safety, or related degree
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation
  • Industry experience in manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, logistics, chemical manufacturing, or food processing
  • Account oversight experience as aย Loss Control/Risk Engineering consultantย with large customers casualty lines of business and programs to include: Auto, General Liability, Workerโ€™s Compensation, Property, Products Liability, SIR, Guaranteed Cost, Large Deductible, and Collateral.
  • Capable of managing and coordinating safety services for large customers withย multiple locations.
  • Knowledgeable in safety management programs that control workplace hazards, educate employees, and promote safety awareness/accountability
  • Able to conduct safety training with large and small groups at all business levels
  • Strong communication and results-oriented consultative skills
  • Outstanding collaboration skills
  • History of working successfully in a team environment
  • High degree of proficiency in using computer and related software or systems

The combined salary range for this position isย $74,300.00 - $161,000.00.ย Theย proposedย salary range for theย Mid-Seniorย level isย $74,300.00 - $121,700.00,ย with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. Forย the Senior level isย $98,300.00 - $161,000.00,ย with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.ย
