Risk and Safety Specialist

Mission-Critical Infrastructure / Technology Services

Employment - Full-time (On-site)

Job Description

The Risk & Safety Specialist oversees the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety protocols, risk mitigation plans, and regulatory compliance efforts

across all facility operations. This role ensures alignment with local, federal, and international standards — including OSHA, NFPA, ISO — driving a culture of accountability and

operational integrity in high-availability environments. This role collaborates with the engineering, operations, and security teams to safeguard personnel, equipment, and data

center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management & EHS Oversight

● Develop and maintain comprehensive Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs tailored to mission-critical infrastructure

● Conduct periodic 45001, hazard analyses, and failure mode evaluations across electrical, mechanical, and operational systems

● Ensure preparedness for fire, chemical, electrical, and environmental incidents

Regulatory Compliance

● Lead compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, ISO 14001/45001, and relevant state/local codes

● Prepare for internal/external audits, maintain documentation, and oversee corrective actions

● Monitor adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, PPE, and hot work protocols

Incident Investigation & Reporting

● Manage incident response procedures, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)

● Maintain accurate safety metrics, logs, and real-time dashboards

● Report key findings to leadership and regulatory authorities where required

Training & Culture Building

● Deliver ongoing training and workshops: electrical safety, fire suppression, emergency evacuations, ergonomics

● Promote a safety-first culture with team briefings, toolbox talks, and proactive engagement

● Coach staff, contractors, and vendors on site-specific safety practices

Environmental Monitoring & Sustainability

● Monitor HVAC, air quality, noise, and waste management systems for environmental compliance

● Implement sustainable practices aligned with ISO 14001

● Coordinate response to environmental events or anomalies

Requirements

Recommended Qualifications

● Education - Bachelor’s in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.

● Experience - 5–8+ years in EHS or compliance roles within mission-critical or industrial settings.

● Skills - Safety audits, risk modeling, regulatory interpretation, training facilitation, CMMS/BCMS familiarity.

● Certifications - OSHA 30 or 510, NFPA 70E, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, CSP or CIH (preferred).

Training & Development

● Electrical hazard awareness (including arc flash simulations)

● NFPA 70E refresher and ISO 45001 internal auditing workshops.

● Emergency response tabletop exercises and evacuation drills.

● Sustainability and GHG reporting modules.

● Safety leadership and behavioral observation programs.

This opportunity is a full-time onsite position supporting a 24/7 Tier III mission critical facility and may include participation in an on-call rotation
