Description

Position Summary

The Safety Specialist will assist the Safety Team in monitoring operations, promoting safety awareness, eliminating unsafe activities, and ensuring detailed documentation is kept. The individual must become well-versed in all OSHA policies, have a keen eye for detail, focus on prevention, and help to support the Safety Team in the creation of a healthy and safe workplace. This position requires a person with a high attention to detail and a sense of urgency.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out responsibilities and duties given by the Safety Director and/or Safety Team
  • Assist in providing information and documentation for onboarding new personnel
  • Assist with client equipment training as necessary (Forklift, Aerial Lifts)
  • Provides technical assistance to other Craneworks Safety Specialists
  • Prepares safety reports and reviews reports drafted by others
  • Gather, consolidate, and enter DOT-required documentation 
  • Track and set up random drug tests for DOT and company
  • Maintain logs of CDLs, Medical Cards, NCCO Training, and other employee certifications and qualifications
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure all applicable documentation is complete
  • Order safety supplies as required
  • Organize and assist with OSHA training
  • Assist accident investigation documentation and procedures
  • Perform Craneworks facility and job site audits and monitor Safety performance, identify corrective actions, and confirm compliance with Craneworks Safety Requirements
  • Monitor and track vetting agencies and upload documents 
  • Manage information, records, and resources for safety management program
  • Manage company safety policies and OSHA compliance programs
  • Other duties assigned as provided by the General Manager and Safety Director, include, but are not limited to record-keeping, filing, monitoring and updating training files, uploading documents, and data entry


Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office & Outlook
  • Knowledge of OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 guidelines and policies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DOT regulations and administration
  • Some knowledge of MSHA regulations

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree (Preferred)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 years of Construction Industry Experience (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years in safety administration

License & Certification:

  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Class A CDL a Plus
  • NCCCO Certification a Plus
  • OSHA 30
  • MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 training certification

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment, equipment shop environment, or job site. Noise, fumes, and chemicals associated with a shop environment is expected. Frequently walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions is associated with this position. Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely. The ability to drive at night is required.  


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel as needed to support all Branches
