Job description

About Us

At BerQ RNG, we turn waste into opportunity.

We're on a mission to make renewable natural gas a mainstream, reliable, and part of North America's clean energy future, capturing biogas that would otherwise be flared into the atmosphere and transforming it into something valuable: clean, renewable fuel.

Across the U.S. and Canada, countless sites release biogas because it's "too hard" or "too expensive" to use. We see that as a challenge worth solving. Our team builds, owns, and operates RNG projects that prove sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand. Every project we develop helps farmers, communities, and investors participate in the energy transition while directly reducing emissions. Job Description

The Health & Safety Director will be responsible for the implementation of health & safety compliance programs at all BerQ RNG biogas project sites and offices. Reporting to the EVP and Chief Legal Officer, this position will be responsible for mitigating hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and operations while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations. The position will administer BerQ RNG’s safety training program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide safety oversight to field personnel to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Develop and update safety manuals and training programs for the effective implementation of the safety programs at each site.
  • Schedule and conduct periodic on-site safety compliance program audits, studies and evaluations. Track and ensure closure of compliance findings.
  • Conduct safety training and education programs, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
  • Investigate and track accidents and other reportable incidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents and incidents might be prevented in the future.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related engineering or technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with digesters, landfills, oil and gas operations, or biohazard environments is strongly preferred.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification required.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. OSHA regulations required; familiarity with Canadian health and safety regulations considered a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing workplace safety programs in industrial operations.
  • Strong verbal, written, computer communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness and ability to travel up to 75% (U.S. & Canada).

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to be exposed to a physical environment which involves dirt, odours, noise, weather extremes or similar elements.
  • Ability to walk over uneven terrain.

In addition to a collaborative and supportive work environment, BerQ RNG offers:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Annual performance incentive bonus opportunity.
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and health and disability benefits coverage for you and your family.
  • 401k Retirement Plan with company match.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • A culture that values teamwork, collaboration, and opportunity for growth and development.
