Job: Safety Assistant

Schedules Mon- Fri. Varied Schedules, must have flexibility to work following hours 8:00am to 5:00pm, 9:00am to 6:00pm or 10:00am to 7:00pm on certain days.

Pay Rate: $20-$22 DOE




The Safety Assistant supports the Safety Manager by monitoring and enforcing safety policies and procedures within the division. This full-time role involves conducting inspections, training sessions, and coordinating safety-related activities to ensure a compliant and secure work environment. The position requires flexibility in scheduling to cover multiple shop shifts and offers opportunities for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety walks and complete related checklists and reports
  • Provide safety training, including new hire orientation and annual updates
  • Deliver equipment-specific training (forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes, etc.)
  • Coordinate practical exams and certification for equipment operation
  • Maintain equipment safety checklists
  • Assist in recommending and preparing weekly safety topics for toolbox talks
  • Help maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) files for the division
  • Review safety policies and suggest updates or changes as needed
  • Coordinate safety-related repairs with Shop Superintendent and Maintenance Department
  • Collect and manage information from outside safety inspectors
  • Handle safety-related administrative tasks in coordination with the front office
  • Perform inspections on fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, and other safety equipment
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Detail-oriented and focused with a willingness to learn
  • Professional discretion, integrity, and sound judgment
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is highly desirable but not required.
