Job description

JOB SUMMARY: In this role, you will build, repair, and maintain production tools and tooling at varying levels of precision. Tooling duties will include but not limited to inspection gages, assembly tools, production parts, and special fixtures. Must possess the ability to follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Interpret and comprehend industry-standard drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Operate a variety of tool room equipment, such as lathes, mills, saws, and grinders, to fabricate parts to specified dimensions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of tool steel grades, their optimal applications, and the heat treatment processes for various materials.
  • Handle and label hazardous and nonhazardous materials and wastes correctly, following supervisor instructions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure seamless design, continuous improvement, and execution of processes.
  • Engage in and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Plan the sequence of operations for fabrication processes.
  • Verify dimensions using instruments such as scales, calipers, micrometers, indicators, comparators, and gauge blocks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance duties on tool room machines.
  • Participate in learning and teaching with colleagues cross-functionally, including but not limited to apprentices and toolmakers.
  • Comprehend and adhere to all process standards.
  • Understand and apply Lean Principles.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a manager or Lead.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assures quality and safety by complying with all appropriate Click Bond policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work area.
  • Work with management and peers, be a self-starter, and detail oriented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Without guidance, must regularly and consistently demonstrate the ability to perform all "Essential Duties and Responsibilities" safely, effectively, and accurately, without causing damage, or excessive wear to equipment, shop, or tools.
  • Must be able to apply concepts of shop math, including but not limited to algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, drop gage, and comparators.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • CAD and CNC experience preferred.
  • Ability to write and read English.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.) required.
  • Minimum 4 years of toolmaking or related experience or equivalent training and experience.
  • Machine Tool Technology Certification, Manufacturing Technician (MT1), National Institute of Metalworking Skills, Inc. (NIMS), or equivalent experience required.
  • Completed apprenticeship preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Use of hand/fingers continuously through shift to manipulate components, tools, etc.
  • Specific vision abilities required:
    • Must be able to see and interpret computer screens.
    • Must be able to read instructions, drawings, sketches, and gages.
    • Must be able to see surface finishes, as required by drawings and sketches, with or without the use of corrective lenses, and or vision aids.
    • Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are all required to safely navigate the shop, workstation, and equipment.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand for the length of shift, bend, and reach.
  • Able to hear typical verbal instructions and common mechanical noises indicative of safe practices.
