Safety Advisors are professionals responsible for ensuring that workplaces comply with health and safety regulations. They assess risks, develop safety policies, conduct training, and advise management and staff on best practices to prevent accidents and injuries. Safety Advisors also investigate incidents, maintain records, and help implement improvements to ensure a safe working environment.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a safety advisor?

To thrive as a Safety Advisor, you need a solid understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, risk assessment, and incident investigation, typically backed by relevant certifications such as NEBOSH or OSHA. Familiarity with safety management systems, audit tools, and compliance software is often required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to influence others are crucial soft skills for promoting a culture of safety. These competencies ensure effective hazard mitigation, regulatory compliance, and the protection of employees and assets.

A Safety Advisor routinely works with various teams, such as operations, HR, and management, to implement safety protocols and address potential hazards.
