What does a SaaS intern in finance do?

A SaaS Intern in Finance typically assists with financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting within a Software as a Service (SaaS) company. This role involves working with financial data, helping to forecast revenue, tracking key metrics like Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR), and supporting the finance team with various tasks. Interns may also help prepare presentations for stakeholders and learn about SaaS-specific financial models. The experience provides valuable exposure to both finance and the technology industry, giving interns an understanding of how SaaS businesses operate financially.

As a SaaS Intern in Finance, you can expect to assist with financial reporting, support monthly and quarterly close processes, and help analyze SaaS-specific metrics such as Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) and customer churn. You'll often collaborate with accounting, operations, and product teams to gather data and prepare dashboards for management. This hands-on experience with SaaS business models, combined with exposure to cross-functional teams, provides a solid foundation for understanding both finance and technology-driven companies.

To thrive as a SaaS Intern in Finance, you need a solid understanding of financial principles, analytical skills, and familiarity with accounting or finance coursework. Attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and strong communication skills help interns stand out in collaborative, fast-paced environments. These competencies enable accurate financial analysis and effective support of business decisions in technology-driven companies.
