Security Officer Instructor
The 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified candidates for part-time Security Officer instructors for classes taught in Miami, Florida
About us:
SEIU 32BJ is a service union that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers in the Miami, Florida area and nine other states on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry.
Who we're looking for:
  • Creative, dynamic instructors with security/law enforcement training experience, who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings
  • Teachers who have a passion to empower security professionals through teaching industry skills and education
Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement lesson plans that are aligned with security officer training curriculum and incorporate the provided educational materials
  • Teach course content using a student-centered approach
  • Maintain and submit records of attendance
  • Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Florida Class DI Security Officer Instructor License
  • 3-5 years of Florida Security Officer experience or Florida sworn certified police officer
  • Bilingual English/Spanish helpful
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certifications a plus
  • Self-defense training also a plus
  • Flexible schedule (willing to work nights and weekends)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience delivering training remotely on Zoom
  • Ability to use digital platforms to communicate, and record program data
COVID-19 Considerations
  • Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption form organization prior to interviewing
  • Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization

Compensation:
  • $75 per teaching hour for classes requiring instructor certifications
