Job description

Job Title: Tae Kwon Do Instructor at Speer YMCA
Description: We are searching for a highly decorated and enthusiastic Tae Kwon Do Instructor to join our organization. The Tae Kwon Do Instructor's duties include providing and assisting in practical instruction, and ensuring that students learn and operate within a safe, supportive environment. As an Instructor, you will lead the class and you may be required to provide such lessons during one-on-one and group sessions. To be successful as a Tae Kwon Do Instructor, you should ensure that lessons remain fun and engaging, while encouraging a deep respect for oneself and others. Ultimately, an outstanding Tae Kwon Do Instructor will develop students' confidence in their abilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Providing and assisting in instruction on grade-appropriate techniques.
  • Informing students about the historical and theoretical underpinnings of these techniques.
  • Fostering discipline and respect within the classroom.
  • Supervising students to ensure that interactions remain safe at all times.
  • Encouraging the appropriate use of techniques learnt, both within and outside of the classroom.
  • Informing students about their progress.

Qualifications:
  • Black belt in Tae Kwon Do required.
  • Prior experience teaching martial arts to students of varying ages and fitness levels.
  • Proven ability to prepare students for participation in local, national, and international tournaments is preferred.
  • Physically agile.
  • Top-notch leadership skills.
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills with the capacity to command attention.
  • Respectful, supportive, and fair approach to teaching.
  • Excellent events planning skills.
  • Passionate about Martial Arts and self-development.
  • Ability to pass 10-panel drug screen
  • Clearance of a level 2 background check done via fingerprinting*

Pay & Perks: Part-time (weekday/evenings, 1-2 days/week), $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. Free individual YMCA membership for employee and discount for household family member.
