Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The EH&S Coordinator is an hourly, nonexempt position working the night shift onsite in Carrollton, GA. Under the direction of the Senior EH&S Manager, the Coordinator carries out established Environmental, Health & Safety programs, procedures, and recordkeeping during offshift hours, providing EH&S coverage and support to nightshift operations. All work is performed within established procedures and priorities set by the Senior EH&S Manager, who retains responsibility for program design, policy decisions, and program ownership.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field, or relevant certifications, is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in environmental health and safety, compliance, or a related field, or equivalent handson experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Willingness to be trained in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems; prior training or certification is desirable.
  • Experience delivering safety training and supporting behaviorbased safety activities is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with auditing processes and experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging employees in safety and compliance activities.
  • Commitment to continued professional development through training, workshops, and certifications.
  • Strong advocate for Environmental, Safety, Health, and Wellness.
  • Basic math skills required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with limited onshift supervision while following established procedures, and to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out and promote established safety engagement activities on the night shift, including KYT (Kiken Yochi Training) hazardprediction sessions and safety observations.
  • Deliver assigned safety training sessions using approved materials and reinforce safe work practices on the floor.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations using established curriculum.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and audit checks in support of ISO 14001 conformance, including items tracked on the EHS compliance calendar, and report findings to the Senior EH&S Manager.
  • Compile EH&S monthly reporting data and maintain environmental management system (EMS) records, including the Aspects & Impacts Register and environmental data entry in EcoTrack.
  • Administer daytoday PPE program tasks, including ordering, issuing vouchers, processing reimbursement paperwork, and coordinating fitting and distribution schedules.
  • Perform inspections and Gemba Walks in the SafetyCulture app, and enter purchase requisitions in SAP as directed.
  • Assist business units with returntowork documentation and support ergonomic assessments under the direction of the Senior EH&S Manager.
  • Coordinate and facilitate nightshift safety meetings, and attend assigned meetings, training sessions, and events.
  • Assist with updating and implementing EH&S procedures; draft revisions for review and approval by the Senior EH&S Manager.
  • Maintain accurate EH&S records and documentation.
  • Maintain entries in the chemical inventory database and SDS online system.
  • Conduct scheduled safety inspections and Gemba Walks, compile incident and inspection data, and identify conditions requiring corrective action.
  • Support the waste management program and coordinate scheduled waste disposal and recycling pickups; assist with hazardous waste (RCRA) accumulation area inspections and manifest documentation.
  • Process EH&S vendor paperwork and track departmental invoices and work orders in SAP.
  • Administer the Safety Observation and Recognition Programs - collecting submissions, maintaining records, and coordinating recognition activities.
  • Respond to incidents occurring on shift, secure the scene, gather initial facts, provide immediate notification to the Senior EH&S Manager, and complete required documentation.
  • Support safety committee meetings and communicate outcomes to nightshift employees.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior EH&S Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication skills with working or developing knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and inspection and audit practices.
  • Understanding of environmental management principles.
  • Strong organizational skills for administering the PPE program.
  • Proficient, or able to become proficient, in SAP and the SafetyCulture app.
  • Ability to work effectively across business units, and to take initiative in carrying out assigned programs and engaging employees.
