The Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC; https://hllc.newark.rutgers.edu/) at Rutgers University-Newark is searching for a new Dean. Founded in 2015, the HLLC is a transformational college access program that reimagines traditional notions of merit and excellence. It fosters interdisciplinary learning communities that tackle pressing social issues and empower students from historically marginalized backgrounds.
About the HLLC Dean
The next HLLC Dean will lead a nationally recognized initiative that is revolutionizing honors education, cultivating talent, and engaging communities. The next Dean will be a visionary leader committed to innovation and transformative education. The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer for the HLLC. The Dean provides leadership, direction, and overview for all HLLC programs, services, and initiatives. The Dean works with all stakeholders across the campus including university faculty, administrators, and staff to create an exceptional community of students who share a passion for learning. The Dean of the HLLC reports directly to the Vice Provost.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Terminal degree in a related field (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D., M.F.A.).
  • Tenured faculty members at the associate or full professor rank.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the missions related to the Rutgers University-Newark Strategic Plan & the Honors Living Learning Center

Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in higher education administration and leadership.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and development activities.

Equipment Utilized
Ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Rutgers University systems and experience with database management.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires that the Dean work some evenings, weekends and holidays.
