  • The role is fully in person with a shift of 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST (35 hours/week)
  • Role is for 3 months with a possibility of an extension
  • Must have at least 1 year of Homecare experience.

  • Must be a RN in NY
  • This job contains Admin work as well so the candidate must be proficient with MS office

Description:

Position Summary: Conducts training, in-services and competency evaluation programs for Home Care paraprofessionals in accordance with applicable Federal, State, City and Local rules and regulations and agency policies and procedures.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and maintains a training program that is in compliance with all governmental and contractual regulations and meets the agency's established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
  • Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
  • Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on the job training, apprenticeship programs, health and safety practices, refresher training, promotional development, upgrading, and leadership development.
  • Ensures that Home Care paraprofessionals are sufficiently knowledgeable and clinically competent to meet certification standards set forth by New York State Department of Health. Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training. Reports on the progress of paraprofessionals under guidance during training periods.
  • Assesses competency of Home Care Aides in a laboratory setting, using established protocol.
  • Assures documentation forms are accurate, complete, and legible and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Supervises training associates, if applicable.
  • Conducts agency in-service programs. This includes preparing educational curriculum in collaboration with Education Manager.
  • Prepares reports and statistics of accountability as requested.
  • Adhere to organization's standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including but not limited to Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
  • Supports organization's mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
  • Adheres to the organization's policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance
Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Nursing from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Must have current NYS license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
  • Must be able to travel locally by public transportation to provide training in various training sites. Valid driver's license, car registration and insurance as applicable.
Working Conditions/Physical Demand:
  • Business office environment with phone and computer use.

Required:

  • Registered Nurse(Required)
  • Must have Home health care experience in Certified home health agency services or Long-term home health care programs.
  • At least 1 year of experience providing home health care services through a Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) or Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA).
  • Experience supervising and training HHAs and PCAs in any healthcare setting, including long-term care, sub-acute, or rehab nursing.
  • Experience with home health care transition planning, even if the experience is not officially counted as "home health care services" under state guidelines.
  • Instructing or evaluating HHAs and PCAs for home-based care, including supervising aides in the home environment.
  • Providing home health training (HHATP/PCATP) or in-services to aides within a CHHA or LHCSA setting.
  • Ability to work with diverse healthcare teams and effectively communicate training concepts in a clinical setting.
