Tax Manager
Publicly Traded REIT | Strategic, High-Visibility Role | 40-Hour Culture

What You’ll Own
REIT & Partnership Tax Leadership
  • Oversee REIT qualification testing and ongoing compliance
  • Manage complex partnership allocations, waterfalls, and multi-tier structures
  • Partner with legal and finance teams on structuring matters
Compliance Oversight & Advisor Management
  • Lead external advisors in preparation and review of federal, state, and local corporate, partnership, and REIT returns
  • Ensure timely filing of income tax, franchise, and information returns
  • Drive process improvements within the tax function
Strategic Tax Planning
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize overall tax exposure
  • Identify structural efficiencies across the REIT and TRS entities
  • Evaluate tax impacts of financing transactions and capital events
Transactions & Growth Support
  • Lead tax due diligence efforts for acquisitions
  • Support structuring of disposition transactions
  • Analyze tax consequences of new investments and joint ventures
Taxable REIT Subsidiary (TRS) Oversight
  • Manage quarterly tax provisions and GAAP reporting
  • Oversee intercompany transactions and service allocations
  • Address transfer pricing considerations
  • Track tax credits and support annual overhead surveys
Risk Management & Audit Support
  • Support income tax audits and respond to notices
  • Maintain strong internal controls around tax compliance
  • Monitor changes in federal, state, and REIT-specific regulations

What We’re Looking For
  • 5–7+ years of progressive tax experience
  • Strong technical expertise in partnership taxation (required)
  • Experience with REIT structures highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Corporate and California tax
  • REIT qualification testing
  • TRS transfer pricing
  • U.S. GAAP income tax reporting
  • CPA and/or MST preferred
  • Big 4 experience strongly preferred

Compensation & Growth
  • Base Salary: $140,000 – $170,000 (depending on experience)
  • Annual Bonus: Up to 20%
