Purpose of Position

  • Build a foundation for lasting relationships with new customers and foster ongoing relationships with existing customers in the retail store and at associated events.
  • Maintain store inventory and presentation via stocking, merchandising, and cleaning.
  • Perform basic racquet preparation and maintenance, including stringing and other racquet services.

Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Greet customers and offer warm hospitality throughout their visit.
  • Provide thorough assistance to all customers in a friendly, professional, helpful and knowledgeable manner, including all Sports Warehouse curbside pick-up costumers.
  • Display a comprehensive and current understanding of company policies, procedures, products and services.
  • Offer outstanding customer service, meeting customer needs and exceeding expectations whenever possible.
  • Maintain store inventory and appearance, engaging in stocking, merchandising and cleaning, either proactively or by assignment.
  • Be flexible during busy times by helping fellow co-workers and multi-tasking.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Continuously learn and develop skills, procedures and information relevant to the position.
  • Understand resources available to locate answers to product questions.
  • Communicate with other departments when necessary, regarding any customer issues.
  • Other necessary duties deemed necessary in the daily operation of Sports Warehouse.
  • Additional responsibilities may include participating in training clinics and providing product feedback for use on the website.
Requirements:

Required Skills

  • Prior retail sales, cashier, or customer-focused experience preferred.
  • Passion and knowledge for Tennis, Pickleball or Running preferred.
  • Stringing experience a plus.
  • Listen well to customers and serve them in a manner that is friendly.
  • Solve problems with creativity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new software applications.
  • Communicate effectively, encourage others and behave professionally.
  • Take an all-hands-on-deck approach to support the team across the store.

Work Environment

This role functions within a typical retail environment that requires frequent face-to-face interactions with customers and staff. This requires routinely utilizing tablets, computers, cash registers/credit card machines and phones for day-to-day tasks. The use of racquet stringing machines and related tools/supplies may also be required to support the needs of the business.


Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to handle objects, type on a computer, use tablets and phones and computer software.
  • Regularly use cash registers, credit card processors and other retail related technology.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Frequently required to stand for prolonged periods of time, in addition to moving about inside the building. Position may require being seated occasionally.
  • Regularly requires use of hands, fingers, wrists, and arms while stringing racquets.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, twist, reach, kneel, crouch or climb.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move objects that weigh less than 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move items that weigh between 25 – 50 pounds, and rarely lift and/or move items that weigh 50 pounds or more.
