What is a running tech rep?

A Running Tech Rep (Technical Representative) is a brand ambassador who educates retailers, staff, and consumers about a company's running products, such as shoes, apparel, and gear. They conduct in-store trainings, attend events, and engage with the running community to promote product knowledge and brand awareness. The role requires strong communication skills, a passion for running, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders. Typically, Running Tech Reps also assist with product testing and provide feedback to help improve future designs.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a running tech rep?

As a Running Tech Rep, your daily tasks usually include visiting retail stores to conduct product training sessions, assisting with footwear fittings, and providing technical support to both store staff and customers. You’ll often perform gait analyses using specialized tools, organize in-store events or clinics, and ensure product displays are accurate and appealing. Collaboration with store managers, sales associates, and brand representatives is common to drive product knowledge and sales. This hands-on, dynamic environment provides opportunities to develop expertise in sports technology and build strong industry relationships.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the running tech rep position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Running Tech Rep, you need a deep knowledge of running footwear, apparel, and technology, often gained through retail experience or specialized training in sports gear. Familiarity with gait analysis tools, point-of-sale systems, and product demonstration techniques is commonly required. Exceptional communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills help you build trust with runners and retail staff alike. These abilities are crucial for educating customers, fostering brand loyalty, and ensuring a positive retail experience.

Job description

Sterile Processing Account Specialist (Hospital-Based)
Orlando, FL | Full-Time | Monday-Friday, evening hours (3 PM EST - 12 AM EST) | $60,000-$70,000 (based on experience) + Full Slate of Benefits
Ready to use your SPD experience in a role that's more leadership and problem-solving - and less daily tray assembly?
We're hiring an experienced Sterile Processing professional to support one dedicated hospital account in Orlando, FL. This is a hands-on, clinical role where you act as the on-site expert improving workflows, supporting teams, and keeping the OR running smoothly.
No travel. No bouncing between facilities. Just one hospital where you can truly make an impact.
What You'll Get
  • $60,000-$70,000 base salary (based on experience)
  • Monday-Friday schedule (Evening shift: 2 PM EST - 10:30 PM EST)
  • No weekends, no holidays, no travel required
  • Health, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO & sick time
  • Stable, full-time hospital-based role
  • Clear pathway into the medical device industry

What You'll Do
  • Partner daily with SPD and OR leadership
  • Ensure tray readiness and case support
  • Audit trays, instrumentation, and workflows
  • Identify and fix inefficiencies before they impact cases
  • Lead hands-on training and in-services
  • Support process improvements and standardization initiatives
  • Serve as the hospital's go-to sterile processing expert

This is not a traditional tech role - you'll spend less time assembling trays and more time improving systems, training teams, and solving problems.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years in Sterile Processing, Central Services, OR, or surgical services
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and tray workflows
  • Comfortable working directly in SPD/OR environments
  • CRCST, CBSPD, or CST preferred

Great fit for:
Senior Techs • Leads • Supervisors • Educators • Managers • OR Liaisons • Clinical Specialists
