Job description

Job Summary:
RTX Corporation is an Aerospace and Defense company that provides advanced systems and services for commercial, military and government customers worldwide. The Associate Director, Functional Architecture Leader – HR Applications will shape IT solutions across RTX’s business units, focusing on HR Applications and driving the vision for enterprise architecture to align IT solutions with business objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the design and implementation of scalable digital enterprise architectures for HR processes across the RTX corporation, focusing on the transition from high-level strategy to actionable roadmaps.
• Partner directly with HR Digital Strategic Engagement Leader
• Develop comprehensive 1-, 3-, and 5-year architectural strategies at the individual functional level, then synthesize these into a unified, cross-functional enterprise roadmap that drives synergy across all of RTX.
• Put strategic visions into motion by defining the architectural guardrails and high-level requirements before successfully handing off projects to Solutions Architecture (SA) teams for tactical execution.
• Integrate technologies such as AI/ML, IoT, and blockchain into the application architecture to enhance financial viability, efficiency, and resilience.
• Collaborate enterprise-wide to develop best practices, patterns, maturity models, and roadmaps for RTX-wide supply chain digital solutions including the opportunity to reuse existing technology.
• Guide technical architecture groups and communities of practice, socialize architectural strategies, and educate stakeholders on the effective use of application architecture efforts.
• Ensure solutions are compliant with RTX IT policies and industry standards while minimizing complexity and maximizing scalability.
• Provide mentorship and thought leadership to the architecture community and IT teams across the organization, fostering a culture of strategic thinking.
• Travel: up to 25%
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum of 12 years’ experience in supporting a complex Enterprise HR environment and a bachelor’s degree in Master’s Architecture, Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related field or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree.
• Proven track record in developing, delivering, and supporting enterprise-scale applications, specifically within complex Enterprise HR environments.
• Functional Domain Expertise: Deep understanding HR & Payroll IT systems and tools, including estimating & pricing, treasury, tax, travel and expense, and associated data integration platforms.
• Expertise in architecture frameworks and methods (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, DoDAF, SAFe Architect); relevant certifications are highly advantageous.
• Experience in migrating on-premise HR applications/infrastructure to the cloud (AWS/Azure) and designing cloud-native solutions.
• Significant experience in IT service and financial management, including people leadership, budget ownership, and project management.
Preferred:
• Direct experience working across RTX business units (Raytheon, Pratt & Whitney, Collins Aerospace), functional organizations, or enterprise services.
• Proven ability to work with SELsBRMs, functional partners, and digital service owners to build localized roadmaps and subsequently synthesize into cohesive enterprise level technology roadmaps.
• Knowledge of advanced technologies like predictive analytics, digital twins, and robotic process automation (RPA) in Financial financial analysis scenarios.
• Experience leading large-scale enterprise architecture initiatives with a focus on Financial HR Applications transformation.
• Relevant certifications: RTX Certified Architect (RCAP), TOGAF, Zachman, ITIL, or PMP.
• Ability to travel up to 25%
